Of course people like gimmicks. Remember this is a luxury sports car. A third of the features could be deemed less than necessary in most lux cars but that's not the point. People like them because it's cool or different or helps justify paying the extra money even more. It's the little things that add to the feel of luxury or sportiness.

It's certainly not a deal breaker though, just odd given that they do it in some of their other models yet the G seems to be positioned as one of the sportiest Infiniti models.

Maybe, they just decided not to bother changing the gauge software for the 2009 Gs. Since they're redesigning the gauges for the 2010 model, I wonder if they'll go ahead and do it then.

Perhaps that's true in your case. The rings can be reset, but it is not convenient to do so while driving. But my driving is mostly on California freeways were the speed limit is 65. Having the yellow go off at 75 can be useful.

I wouldn't count on that as being enough to defer someone from speeding

Something to separate the entry level G from the rest of the pack.

I wouldn't use it to deter me from speeding. I would just set the rings for fun haha. Like notification, or just as a "cool" thing as stated before about the gauge dials.

I would probably put yellow at like 45 and red at like 65. So yellow would be for a high speed for city driving, and red for freeway

for sweeping gauges to NOT be in the car that represents 70% of your sale fleet while the 370 and the rest of the infiniti line does is pretty retarted.

I agree with you. It's a retarDed move leaving that feature out.
