The new A4 with S-line package is a very good looking car with a great interior. What kills me is the lack of power from the motor and heavy curb weight. For a car in the low to mid $40K range, it should have a lot more power. It won't be long before Audi drops the new supercharged A6 motor in the A4.

The G37S 6MT is a great deal. I got my my car for $36K (before tax) this summer. The sticker price was $40K. Nothing can touch this car for that price. The money saved with the 6MT went towards the navigation system.

Audi is crazy with the way they price the A4. At least BMW puts some serious power behind their $45-50K price tag on the 335i.

Best to test drive back to back , as always. Also, if you are going to keep the car past warranty, consider upkeep costs. I just got out of my wife's A-6 and bought her a g37X.
I got tired of the big Audi repair bills.

The A-4 is a nice car but I don't like that wheezy sounding 2.0T. The 3.2 would have been over 50K with the deisred packages. Nice interiors, decent looking car BUT the G definitely has a more sporty feel to it. Even with strong discounts from Audi, you will spend more on an Audi to get the content of the G sedan. Audi (like BMW) force alot of items you may want into pricey "packages"

We looked at all the near luxo sedans...Audi Bmw, Lexus. MB and found the G37X to be
the best mix of features, reliability reputataion, performance and styling. So far , so good.

My wife's only complaints..trunk smaller than A-6 and lots of "safety imposed" software that can be annoying. I love drivng the G. Helluva car for the money we paid for it.

Like someone said, to get an A4 with the same goodies the G has, you're gonna spend so much more bread. And then so much more bread on maintenance. At least if you go with a bimmer for that price, you get 100% free maintenance for 4/50K. And at least with the G, you get just as nice, if not better of a car and save some bread. And I personally think the G is the sexier looker. The A4 is nice though!

it also comes down to how unique you want to be...

your from Miami... how many BMW's, Audis or G37s do you see around? here in GRR i havent seen a single G37s coupe yet - so where ever i pull up or go people are turning heads, it feels nice . consider that too, i drive down to Chicago and BMW's are like Chevy's they are everywhere lol nothing cool about that.

It's a tough decision you're trying to make.. So let's do a quick comparison

Exterior Looks: I'm sorry guys, but this goes to the A4 (I'm not going to be bias lol)
Interior Styling: Can't beat the germans I'm sorry lol

Performance & Handling (stock vs. stock): G37 no doubt
Modability: 2.0T engine wins this one
Reliability: that's one thing A.U.D.I does not stand for lol, G37 wins it
Price: I wouldn't know about the US market

All thats left to do, is figure out your priorities and you'll have a winner.

Good luck

The only thing thats looks better on the audi are its daytime running lights... that whole instrumental cluster may look interesting but it lacks functionability... and if you spill a drop of water on it your screwed... and if your gonna get a v6 similiar equipped to a fully loaded g your hit 50 grand easy

And I dont even want to get started about their lack of reliability!

Audi interiors are always top notch but, IMHO, the older generation Audis had nicer interiors than the new cars. The Lexus interior was very, very nice as is the exterior styling
Otherwise, that car was as exciting as flushing a toilet.

Not a fan of the A-4 aesthetically. A-6 is much better looking but too big, too pricey
for wifey drive to work, grocery store.

Audi A4 has a great look to it but Ithe G is a better overall buy. Better performance, reliabilty, beter driving feel and bang for the buck.

I would say exterior styling is a tossup
Interior styling is better in the G
Modability: + for Audi in that it can be done, negative in that it needs mods to match the G's performance. Seems like a negative spun to be positive.

When I turned in my G37 coupe I had the same dilemma, looking at sedans in this segment. My main choices were the A4 2.0T, TSX, 335, C350, and the ultimate winner of an 08 G35S.

I test drove a manual A4 2.0T and it wasn't that bad, decent torque and AWD helped it get off the line quickly. Of course the HID daytime lights and overall styling look better to me than the G, but overall it wasn't nearly as sporty or as much of a value.

335 and C350 were just too expensive to justify the price increase IMO, and the TSX just didn't have the *oomph* I was looking for. Although the 6-speed of the TSX was the best out of all the cars mentioned in this post.

It all comes down to whats more important: Drving a true RWD sport sedan, or a comfy & classy AWD cruiser.

I love the G37 Coupe owners coming out of the wood works claiming that the coupe is better than the sedan; it's the same effin car. Actually, the G37 sedan is a better value since it's cheaper and offer same or better performance.

Going back on topic, IMO, the A4 is better looking than the G37 and its interior is a bit richer. However, the G37 walks all over the A4 in driving dynamics and performance.
