Fun per gallon is way up there with the G37. I get crappy mileage (13-14) because I drive up and down mountains 4 times a day.

Wish I could turn brake dust into gasoline.

~1,000 mile trip from Denver to Phoenix: cruise control set at 80 with few exceptions, no adverse weather, no A/C use = 25mpg. Trip back I was a bit more spirited and achieved 21mpg. This trip was starting with 1,800 miles on the car.

Daily driving nets no better than 18mpg.

I personally am offended by the mileage of the car but can't say I didn't halfway expect somewhat poor mileage given how heavy the car is and the hp/tq rating.

Air conditioning's effect on mileage is negligible.

Ya, did you guys see that MythBusters were they tested if you get better gas mileage with the AC or with the windows down? Running the AC gives you, if I remember right, a couple gallons per mile advantage then driving with the windows down to stay cool. I found it interesting that screwing with the aerodynamics affected vehicles with that much drag.

I talked to an Infiniti Mechanic about this and he said give it a few months. As the parts begin to wear in you should see better mileage.

I averaged 23mpg on my 2000 mile drive to bring my car home. Now that I'm commuting and out of the break-in period, I expect that to drop drastically.

My modded C5 'Vette with around 420hp actually gets better mileage around town than my G37. I get close to 19mpg with the 'Vette and around 18mpg with the G.

Tell me about it.. I made the drive same time last year in my Trans Am with cam and headers and 120k miles on it and still got 30mpg. My previous Trans Am with the worst automatic transmission ever (3 speed + overdrive) still made 27mpg on the trip to Phoenix. 10 year old American V8 muscle car weight nearly exactly the same and having nearly the same hp and more tq... and the G gets worse mileage. Crazy.

What's interesting is after looking into it, the Trans Am and G37 have the exact same city and highway mileage ratings: 18/26.

Hey another former f-body con-vert. sup dude. Nissans in general suck for mpg, still huge shocker that a 5.7 beats a 3.7 for economy tho!

You guys are aware that with new cars it takes a little while for the car to get you the best gas mileage? This is my first new car as it might be for some other forum members. Everyone I have talked to that has bought new cars tells me to wait until you have around 10000 miles on the car because you then start getting around 2-3 miles extra per gallon. Still not the greatest but not bad either since I am getting around 25 on the highway. Just take it easy and wait to see what you get around 10000 miles. And remember that if you do drive aggressively around town then don't expect better than 18mpg. 17-26mpg is what the G is rated for on their site.

Well on my first road trip with 500 miles on it I managed 19mpg, 6th gear cruise 70-72mph. That shouldn't happen, regardless of being broke in or not. What am I all of a sudden going to gain 8-10mpg? Maybe a good ECU reset will do the trick. I'll do that after my first oil change and move to synthetic. A v8 muscle car should not be getting the same gas mileage as a v6, just wrong in every sense...

At around 1000miles or so, in 6th gear w/cruise control stuck at 65mph I was seeing 27mpg. This was for about 30min.

My only question is, did you reset the mpg counter? This takes an average so say you drove 100 miles and was getting 14mpg and then went on the highway and got 24mpg you would get close to your number. Just asking! When I went to Santa Fe, New Mexico I filled up at a gas station by the highway, reset my mpg counter, and then took my trip to see what mpg I was getting.

I am at 400 miles and have never gone over 4000 RPM and I avg. 13.8 according to the computer. This was shocking to me, however it's probably due to the stop and go morning comute and the fact that my A/C is blasting away in the 80+ heat here in south fla. Hoping this figure goes up over time, I haven't even gotten on this thing yet, and I'm not even cracking 14 MPG, SIGH!!
