Miles Per Gallon Feedback
i noticed my mpg has gotten a lil better. when i was at around 400 miles...i averaged about 18 mpg. now, i've got around 1100 miles and averaging 20. not a drastic change, but its sweet to see it go up.
I'm a C6 Corvette owner and I can tell you that pretty much on except if you have a 05, its lower.Giving thought to buying a G37 for a daily driver... The gas thing is kinda a hard sell on the G37.
First post here, considering a new G37 soon, and I'm trying to figure out real-world mileage here. A couple thoughts:
You ran the tank down to ZERO? It seems like a lot of people are posting what the computer says, which obviously could be way off. From the scenario above, if the standard 3-4 gallons is left when the light goes off, and you fill up, that's only 16-17 gallons used, and around 20-22 mpg.
I'm coming from a 2002 Acura RSX, which was rated at 29/33. I'm a little over 99k miles on it, and to give you an idea, i recently took a road trip of about 400 miles round trip and average a bit over 38 mpg. Since the car doesn't have a computer, this is figured manually (as i always do). I average about 30-32 around town and generally 35+ on the highway. I drive normally (not overly aggressive, but not like a grandma either).
Also, know it's not recommended, but has anyone tried an easy tank on regular gas? If you drive hard you definitely don't want to risk any engine damage, but I would think normal octane gas along with normal driving wouldn't cause any issues and also pick up some MPG. Of course, I'm not up on my technical specs on the 3.5L engine, so maybe there are other issues?
Just some thoughts/questions...I love this car, but doubling my gas payments every month may be a bit much to swallow.
Also, any thought on the trunk size? I play goal in hockey and regularly tote my equipment back and forth. The hatch on the RSX is perfect, and I''m worried the G37 may not work out size-wise...then again, the passenger seat could fit something I bet...
i filled up the tank.. which is 20 gallons..right? then did a bunch of highway driving... and then a bunch of beating on it. so i guess its a 50/50 deal.. in the end made it to 350 miles. so im getting 17.5 miles per gallon.

Hey guys, I just realized something about the mpg in the "Local". It really depends on which city you live in, Im from Philly and I average 14-15mpg local, thats mainly cause Philly sucks. Pay attention to your lights, I realized that the damn city basically makes you stop every 2nd light causing an extreme amount of stop and go. I use to live in Nyc. I know its ridiculous there also, but when there is not that much traffic, nyc traffic lights are actually set to make you go around 35mph smoothly. I also realized something about Florida, their so called local are like highways, speeds of 65+ can easily be achieved, not to mention that every light is like a mile apart. I guess if you factor in what i did, you will soon realize why some ppl are getting significantly better mpg on local than others.
I'm in downtown Chicago and I do an even mix of city and highway driving. I get about 18 city and 28.5 highway if I drive normally. The mileage got noticeably better when I hit 5k and I'm at 9k right now. Since I added my headers and HFC I've seen ~ 1+ MPG or roughly 3%. Spirited driving seems to yield a tad less MPG than stock
I usually get about 21 MPG.
I drive maybe 15% city, 25% stop and go highway, and 60% open highway on 80 mile round trips to work every day.
I'm happy with my MPG. On trips to and from PA or Ohio, I averaged around 23 or 24 MPG.
