G37 coupe hood gap fitment

Ever since I bought this car it had had a slight gap on the passenger side it’s a clean title no accident car with only 80k miles , the dealership did say the bumper was replaced and repainted I really have no clue why .But I will say I need to get it fixed asap, I never really cared till the light was hitting it today . I see everywhere of people having the issue and fixing it 3 years later but no one really is responding to the messages on those post . Thanks for the help !

Do you have an FTSB? I have noticed my hood is a bit raised but its in the rear near the cowl. I removed my strut bar and it seems better.

Not to burst your bubble but just because the car has a "clean title" /or a clean "CarFax" does not mean the car was not involved in a minor incident. It just means that nothing was reported in the event a incident did occur- likely to save reporting to the insurance company. No way to know for sure but given the dealer acknowledges the bumper was replaced is a potential red flag.

That said, unless there is something physically interfering with the hood (like a strut bar) there is the possibility that the hood just needs to be adjusted. The FSM has detailed measurements and instructions on how to adjust roof fitment with the other body panels:

When you press down on the hood in that area does the gap close or does the hood stay firm? If I were to guess I'd say likely the striker latch just needs a minor adjustment.

No when I push it down it does close the gap but it just pops back up where it’s been at it is latching . But I’m gonna try to use that fitment guide right now to fix the fitment thank you!

The striker latch needed to be adjusted and it’s missing the foam part behind the bumper that pushes the bumper up … but it looks SOOOO much better THANK YOU

I am certain you can find something asimilar to replace the missing foam "shim."

I get it right once in a while

Glad it all worked out.
