Seibon CF Hood Adjustment

I messed around with my hood a little bit today, and after a lil experimenting, i got it to fit perfect!

So with the Seibon hoods, we all know about the obnoxious gap in the center, ive been theorizing the past few weeks that the cause of this could be the spring on the hood release holding the hood up.

First i tried to ziptie the spring to keep it shorter and the gap got a litlle smaller, then i just removed the spring completely, and voila, NO MORE GAP!

The only problem at this point is how do you pop the hood. lol Well with a little more adjusting, if you have the rubber stoppers just at the right length, theyll allow the hood to close, but when you pop it, itll lift up 1/4" just enough to get it with your finger tips and lift it up.

Heres some pics:

Hood Gap after initial install and adjustments.

Now heres some cell pics(sorry) after my victory today!

Great work bud & thanks for posting! Seibon makes 2 kinds of hoods for our G37's, right?...aside from the one you have on yours, there's also one with vents like we've seen around the forum, right?

I've been seriously considering the Siebon CF hood, for my black G37, but not sure if I should wait to see if any other companies make something that fits better or just take my chances on the one out there currently.

yes, seibon makes the OEM style or the TS style with the vents. Both have the same issue.

Theres a couple others besides the 2 seibon hood. VIS makes one thats the same price, and prob fits better. These 1 or 2 others also.

Thanks Stoof! So the VIS one is better, eh? I just hope the vents are sealed off so that water/snow doesn't leak into the engine bay. Is it easy to pop the engine with these CF hoods?

I honestly dont know if the VIS is better, but i know the Seibon sucks. I had to do so many things to install it, half the holes werent big enough for the clips so i had to drill them out, some werent drilled at all. The windshield washer nozzles wouldnt clip in so i had to glue them on. Not happy with Seibon at all. I wouldnt recommend buying them.

****...sorry to hear man...seems like you've had the worst experience with Seibon. I guess I'll look a bit more into the VIS hood to see if anyone else have been having similar issues with it as well. Thx for the feedback!

be the guinea pig and try that Hood by AMS from showstoppa. they got banned though so you prob have to go to there website and contact them about it. Its not worth it though cause its like 1k for the hood. for that price, the fitment better be perfect.

here is the VIS on a car. Helping ya out so ya can get ya a CF hood. i think the fitment is the same cause in these picture you see a gap in front

You're awesome for pointing me in the right direction man. True, the fitment (from the pics) appears to be crap like most of these CF hoods I've seen. I tried googling ShowStoppers AMS hood and figured it would bring up their website, but I couldn't seem to find it. I know he got banned here so it's going to be tough contacting him. Any idea what his contact details are? I don't have AIM, otherwise I'd find him using his username. Thx!
