POO21 AND PO524 08 g37 coupe
Hi guys, I'm hoping y'all can help guide me on what to do next on my good friends 08 G37 sport that he just bought that immediately had issues while driving home, he brought it to me to check out and I scanned the system it had code P0021 camshaft B1 error code, the signal for bank1 cam angle degrees is dropping out and setting the code, the second code is P0524 for low oil pressure, I found that it is common for the oil galley cover screws to work loose and blow the cover gaskets out, so I removed the front timing cover and upon inspection found the screws loose and the gasket blown out, I cleaned the surfaces thoroughly, replaced the gaskets and screws with the recommended updated ones and torqued them to 12 ft lbs. on the upper and lower galleys, I also installed two new seals on the outside of the oil upper galley covers that seal against the outer timing cover got it all back together and have the same codes when I test drive it, while monitoring it the bank 1 and 2 cam angle sensors bank 2 intermittingly drops out and then it resets the two codes, I tested the actuators out of the car and they function well, the oil screens are clean, I switched the cam phaser sensors with each other, and even replace the oil pressure switch, I cand find oil pressure reading on live data using my scan tool, I will have to check engine oil pressure manually. before I proceed any further any advice or guidance on this issue is well appreciated. Thank You
PS the timing chain was tight didn't look stretched, the guides looked great, cam sprockets, and cam phasers all looked good, I did install a new water pump even though the old was still good.

There is a good thread here on the P0021 Camshaft Position Sensor code: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...-solenoid.html
Better one here which goes into the Cam Phaser Ring: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...011-p0021.html
P0524 Oil Pressure code is discussed here: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...0524-code.html
Sucks that these didn't show up during a test drive as I'm assuming the original owner did the same thing to the dealer that purchased the car from them.
The gallery gaskets on pre-2013 cars were made of paper and notorious for working themselves loose and cause oil pressure loss. Now that you are in there, replacing those with the newer metal gaskets and the water pump is the right thing to do: https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-...t-p-17916.html
There is no can bus PID for the oil pressure, so that has always been an issue on these cars and we have a member here on the community working on a solution for that issue now.
If you search, the same codes have shown up for others after the Gallery Gasket repair, but very few have responded.
@BULL provided some details here: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...placement.html
