I have a 2008 G37s (coupe) and about a week ago the "Low Washer" light came on. It happens about 3-4 minutes after starting up the car. I filled the reservoir to the top with washer fluid but its still coming on so it looks like there is an issue with the sensor. Is there a way to clean the sensor like the video below? Or, is there an option to disconnect the fuse that controls the error light so it simply doesn't come back on?
Hi, first ask yourself what would be the end goal for you.
Do you want to never deal with that light again or do you want to just fix the issue?
Being that the washer reservoir is an item that sees its shares of use there is a small float built in the sensor that rises with water and lowers as it empties. Just like low brake fluid level once the float lowers enough it either completes the circuit or disengages the circuit triggering the light.
This float for the most part is pretty resilient, your problem could just be debris/slime on the float making it stuck. You can remove and clean it and see if this will work. If not the Junkyard will have one for cheap. If not brand new should range between $20-$30
The sensor's wiring is identified by a brown plug on the reservoir, if disconnecting the sensor does not cancel the light then placing a jumper from one pin to the other should cancel the light
You have many options to chose from. I suggest you inspect and clean what you have, then replacing the sensor.
@Bull - The local Infiniti dealer said the entire reservoir needs to be replaced since they do not sell just the sensor for the 2008 G37s. I found the sensor you referenced on eBay and it says it does not fit my car. Do you think that will still work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-OEM-...-/263490712258
Did you ever find a solution to this? I just picked up a 2008 Journey and what I thought was a simple low washer fluid has turned out to be a persistent warning light. From my research, it appears Infiniti does not offer a sensor for this specific year, and the entire reservoir is a $500 part.
I bought a washer reservoir sensor (part#28911-1E400) from my local Nissan dealer for $35 and then had a local auto shop install it for $170. Works perfectly!
Hi, I hope it is ok to put this here. I shot this video of me replacing the washer fluid level sensor that resides in the bottom of the reservoir tank. Hope someone finds this useful. I have used so many other youtube videos over the years I thought I needed to film one myself and post for a little pay back.
