I know there are threads on this topic But I was looking at ipl wheels and was wondering if 245/40r19 and 275/35r19 or 285/3r19 would be better. Would it be better to have a slightly taller tire in the rear with the 285 or are the 275 better -0.52% compared to 0.51 with 285. Thanks

 

The AWD system on the G puts power to rear wheels first until the ECU senses slip from the rear wheels, at that point it starts to send power to the front wheels. The rear tires wear out faster than the fronts do because of this, depending on driving style of course. So having the taller 285/35 (which is what I think what you wanted to originally write) in back will wear faster and eventually become the same overall diameter of the 245/40 in front which would be better for the awd system. However, I am not exactly sure what the wheel specs are on the IPL wheels. If they are 9" wide for the rears then 285 is starting to become to wide of a tire for that rim. I think it can be done, but aesthetically the rears might look a little 'pillowy' with the 285 in the back on the 9 inch wide rim. Many awd owners run the coupe 19 inch 10 spoke rims which are 8.5 inch in the front with 9 inch wide rears with 245/40 and 275/35 tires and have no issues with the awd system.
