08 G37 is getting a p0340 on bank 1. Checked the voltage on the cam sensors and they drop to 0 when metal touches them so the connection seems to be solid. I even tried swapping cam sensors to see if the code would switch banks but it remains on bank 1 meaning the cam sensors are fine. Car stalls when coming to stops, rpms stutter only when they drop and the car sounds like its cammed. There's also a loss of power and rattling noise above 2k rpms or so (bad timing chain?).
Can anyone analyze these diagnostics as to why my cams are angled like this? Is this wrong shouldn't they be in sync? I saw someone else's current VTC operation angle and they had around 3.5 degrees but mine are 64 and 128 degrees. Wondering if my timing is off on the cams or something:
With OBDFusion, sometimes the ECU reports that it supports an enhanced PID, but the live data doesn't change, so we can't always use that for troubleshooting.
The VTC angle for bank 2 always shows -128 on my 2011 G37, but bank 1 does change. Again not everything show live/real data.
By switching the CAM sensors and the code stayed on the same side, you might have a slipped encoder ring.
Here is an excellent document that talks about that: http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wol...derslipped.pdf
Yeah I read about the pin encoder slipping being some people's issues. I did my gallery gaskets a few weeks ago after having a p0011, p0021 and p0054 assuming that my gallery gaskets blew but upon inspection they looked fine. I took some pictures and by the looks of things the cam encoders look pretty spot on but I might disassemble some stuff to get a closer look. A few months ago I got a p0035 for my crankshaft position sensor with no real issues but now that I think about it I can track the rattling sound I'm getting to near the flywheel area and I'm wondering if I might have a damaged flywheel or bad crankshaft position sensor. Also, the car starts very fast, almost instantly upon pressing the ignition which is unusual and makes me think it's related to the crankshaft position sensor and causing further bad readings to my cam sensors etc. I'll probably test the sensor tomorrow and see what I can find.
Update: Seems as though my tune was messed up as I stupidly installed what I thought were OEM injectors but were actually much larger cc injectors which resulted in dumping fuel and the engine running super rich. Swapped back the OEM injectors and everything is working and driving great.
