Help ESCL or something else?
ESCL or something else?
First post, newbie, however I did search here and read a bunch of 370z forum articles.
g37 won't start:
intelligent key warning light is on. so after the google/search thing I first thought it was the escl issue.
HOWEVER:
1. my g37 is a 2008, I noticed that the issue was mostly on 2009-2010
2. my car goes into acc and turns on. ac, lights, radio, all functions work. only engine does not start up. Everything i've seen on the escl failure shows that escl prevents a car from even going to accessory (acc).
3. I replaced battery, fob battery, tested all fuses in the 2 hood + 1 interior fuse boxes
4. I hear no sounds from engine compartment when I try to start
5. oddly my speakers sometimes make a pop sound when I cycle the start button (not always).
Any help or insight would be awesome

Update
July 17 update:
mobile mechanic said it is a bad starter, which doesn't make sense to me, car's got 80k miles
I checked brake switch, it isn't that either. Although playing around with the switch gets the intelligent key light to go off temporarily
I'm in the process of taking off the escl (trying)
Which btw, for anyone else trying to take off escl:
In the G37 (2008) It is all the way in the back, in a worse placement than most other nissan/infinitis i've seen. However after ~90 minutes of playing around with it over two days, success! The curved pliers didn't work for me.
After trial and error I used a 7/16 (11mm) Irwin impact bolt extractor w/ a 3/8in ratchet to successfully get one off (taking a break lol)
Shop IRWIN 5-Piece Bolt Grip Set at Lowes.com
not exactly that kit, but very similar, $20 at lowes + $6 for a ratchet.
The 7/16 fits perfectly over the bolt if placed just right. Very little room, and you have to use one hand to push against the bolt and one hand to turn.
I'm not sure if it is the ESCL, however it is rather check to be sure first than go buy/replace a starter. Starter is next step if ESCL is still good.
If anyone wants pictures I can go take some. The other bolt (further back) is harder, 30 min and no luck so far, can't get enough pressure ontop to get the extractor to grip
