This is/was Selene...and she died keeping me alive last Saturday. Engine has a Fast Intentions TT kit and is completely intact, though I need to get under her to see how the tranny (only 2 years old) and the MXP exhaust faired. My current plan is to find another running 08 or 09 and do some serious part swapping. If you know of a decent chassis running around at a good price, please shoot that info my way. I've also considered parting her out and going after a GT-R but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to let go or go through the hassle of it all.

As I bring this to the community, I'm in a weird head space. I'm not sure if I'm just sharing, asking for help/guidance, etc. I don't say much but I've always appreciated the G community and being able to come here and lose myself in all the info found combing the threads. So, if you have anything constructive you'd be willing to share I'd appreciate it. Otherwise more details to come in the near future.

Sorry about the car being totalled... thankfully, cars can be rebuilt... lives cannot. Hope you / anyone else in the car wasn't majorly injured. Consider walking away a blessing.

It would be awesome if you could rebuild your car in another chassis. But if it's too hard to find / too expensive... then the part out might be the way to go.

I'd just go ahead and find another chasis and start the swap, that way you will always know a part of her will still live on to add to your adventures and fun times.

The truth is, it was my fault. I pulled off from a light and the back end started sliding out. Completely caught me off guard. I tried to upshift to lower the rpms, got off the gas, and counter steered. The back end completely shifted to the other side. What I should've done was hit the brakes and let the spin happen. I didn't have much room on either side, so I continued trying to get a straighter angle. Eventually clipped a pole that spun me into a tree. I was heading toward an expressway on ramp. I woke up in the ambulance.

I thought the ground was dry but everyone tells me I was wrong. The ground looked dry but it was actually wet and further down I may have hit some small patch of ice.

 

Getting off the gas in a slide is sometimes a bad move. It unloads everything and causes the back end shift you experienced. Honestly your best bet may have actually been to, downshift, counter steer, and hit the gas. I know it seem counterintuitive but I've been in sliding situations before and instinct had me do that, and it saved me. Just glad you're okay. Use it as a learning experience. The car can be replaced, but you cannot.

 

Can't downshift from 1st, when I upshifted to 2nd and let off the gas and it swayed all the way to the other side, I then focused on counter steering and trying to balance with the throttle. It's fuzzy but I know I'd started getting her back straight but it was too late at that point. It is definitely an extremely humbling, learning experience. Honestly, I'm really disappointed in myself for the whole event... but I'm grateful to be here.

 

All you can do at this point is learn from it, and be thankful for being alive. I actually have a thread I posted years back showing pictures after an accident I had when I was 18 when I ripped a car in half. I mainly posted it because my 17 year old cousin had just been killed in a car accident driving too fast. I was lucky, and am thankful to this day that I was able to walk away. Even if my cousin wasn't able to learn from his mistake I posted that thread so that maybe others could learn from his mistake. Good luck in moving forward.

 

I'm new to this forum and I'm sorry to hear of your accident. Looks like a good amount of damage but I'm sure you'll rebuild the G with time as the most important thing is everyone was okay. If you ever do plan to part it out, I'd be interested in the rear diffuser and would be happy to buy it from you. I wish you the best of luck in your recovery and rebuild.

 

Don't beat yourself up. You made a mistake and you are learning. Amazing you are still breathing... 6" difference between still being here and being in the arms of the Lort. Be easy and heal up.

 

Sorry about your accident but as others have said glad you are able to talk about it. I know cars can become like family and seeing it wrecked is heartbreaking. Rebuild and part out what you can’t reuse. You will have a blend of old and new which may give you peace of mind. As long as you’ve recognized the learning experience you will be a better person. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Like most life learning situations, it will make you stronger and smarter. Keep us posted with your progress.
