Hello -

It was the first cold day in Toronto ( woke up at 15C 59F) and as I started driving, got up to 80-100KM the car was shaking very strong! wheel was out of control. I was about to pull over but then continued and got in traffic and noticed during traffic - going at 10km/h - the car was slightly jerking. 30min passed while in traffic and it was fine after - no shakes as if nothing happened.

Any idea what happened in the morning? It wasnt that cold to affect the car? and i just replaced my brakes and rotors so that shouldnt be the problem ( plus i was just driving without pressing the brakes at first)

Since you just changed rotors & pads and then you get this vibration, sure sounds like it is related. I'd go ahead and check torque on all bolts that were R & R'd during that service. Also, doesn't take much buildup under a rotor to get a vibration, so you may have to clean up under one of your rotors perhaps.

I actually changed the rotors/brake pads about a month maybe 2 ago - and suddenly it started? I did notice that after a week the brakes start squeaking but i figured thats because its not factory brakes/rotors.

Was the shaking frequency consistent with the speed that you were driving- did it increase decrease as your speed did the same?
Did the steering wheel shake or did it feel like it was coming from the wheels?
Or was the engine shaking?

It definitely shook more as the speed increased. However, when i was in traffic and was doing a " stop and go" motion i sensed that the car was jerking and not driving smoothly. The steering wheel was shaking ( as soon as i let it go) and the whole car was shaking.

20min later it all stopped.. and ran smoothly again.

That's so weird out of the blue like that.

From a pure safety perspective it might not be a bad idea to let the dealership take a look just to make sure everything is torqued down good.

Yeah, that would be disturbing to say the least. It's possible you picked up some road debris that wrapped around a part in motion and caused that momentary shudder. But like Kaboom mentioned, wouldn't hurt to take a good look around, and getting it up on a lift would be best.

Sounds like you don't have your wheels torqued. Or you have some broken studs.
