I don't post here much, but I do get on every once in a while to search for info etc.

My post today is regarding an accident my car was in. Kind of looking for advice from others who have encountered the same level of damage mine has.

About two weeks ago my 2008 Infiniti G37s was in an accident while parked on the street. A 3 month new driver somehow or another managed to hit my car and two other parked cars before totaling his car into a curb. Needless to say I was beyond furious that this happened especially since my car was parked and I felt the situation could have been avoidable. Its hard to tell from the pics but the rear wheel is pushed all the way up into the wheel well, hard to tell what suspension components are damage at this point too.



My questions are:
-Has anyone else's car incurred damage like this?
-Any estimate on damage cost?
-And did you car ever drive the same or close too it?
-Is there a chance this car will get totaled out? KKB NADA price it at $16,500-$17,000k value. VA is 70% of the cars value before totaling.


Yes their insurance is taking a care of everything and I will be filing a claim for residue value lost. But I would like this communities views on it?

I was involved in a hit and run last week and just got my car back yesterday. It wasn't as severe as your but in the same location with rim damage too but that also was not as severe as yours. Total estimate was right at $2,300 bucks and thankfully it still drives fine, so far *knock on wood*. They made sure it was realigned. But again, it was as severe as yours.

That back wheel is bent in pretty good. It'll be interesting to see if they're able to properly realign it or not and just how bad the damage there is. That looks to be the big question.

Wish you the best in getting this situation fixed properly and everything working out for you just as you hope. It sucks i know. I feel your pain and frustration.

I feel if yours was $2300. mine could easily be double that. Im interested to see what else is broken behind the wheel.

Your car is also an S model so it has the bigger 19 inch wheels and bigger brakes which will drive up the price of the estimate as well.

When I still had my GTI, someone swiped my front bumper and fender in a parking lot. The damage was minimal, you could only see it if you looked from 2 feet away.

But, I made them fix it right and replace the fender and paint the entire bumper and blend the hood, etc... $3200 estimate. I can easily see your damage surpassing 6k.

Best of luck, don't let their insurance **** you around. Be firm and have the car taken to a shop of your choice.

 

Mine was $9800. But, having some problems with panel alignment, headlight match and bent wheel. They're dropping a loaner off today and taking it back to the shop. From the looks of yours it won't be totaled unless the air bags deployed?

 

Air bags did not deploy.

And yes I have explained expectations of this situation very clearly. The person who hit me has the same insurance company so it has been a fairly easy process.
