Most of my gripes about the car are minor and can be fixed...the chrome grill, the chrome fender vents, and the vents and red reflectors next to the rear diffusor. I love the interior styling...so glad they got rid of the cheap painted plastic dash trim, and it looks like the headliner will be black! Looking forward to seeing what the aftermarket has in store for the Q60.
I'm hoping that they have a few new colors or at least improve the current ones that they have!

Yes, they fixed all of what I didn't really like in my G37 coupe including the wheel gap. The black pillars and headliner will be awesome. Thought about getting the black exterior, black interior, but wonder if that would be overkill with the black headliner now! Plus black is a pain to keep clean I hear, so will probably stick with silver or graphite.

I'll have to see it in the flesh. If I do buy one it won't be new, I'll wait a year and let it drop $10K and make sure that the bugs have been worked out before I jump in. I really have my G just like I want it, so it would definitely be difficult to part with.

Im sure it wasnt his fault, and only the bean counters had final say, but still.

We need to start a 6MT petition.

Regardless, this car looks way too fantastic to pass up. I need to get me one.
Well, this is the first run of the car. There IS still time for one to show up maybe on the next year release. Maybe they are waiting to see how sales go and how the car is received before they release one. I am crossing my fingers to that fact. I do like the car but I don't think I want it in auto...I really don't

I will most likely wait for the 2018 also, to give them a year to find any issues and get the production line running smoothly, lol.

AND.. manual could still be coming. Maybe in the 'IPL/E.R' version. Who knows. It's just not available at launch.
The manual still coming, is super highly doubtful.

The automatic transmission is tied into the car way too deeply. Almost all the tech package features have the ability to slow or change the car's speeds and that just cant occur in full spectrum with a manual.

Theres distance control assist, backup collision intervention, blindspot intervention, intelligent cruise control, forward emergency braking....all those features are "easily" adjustable with an auto.

If they were to build a manual coupe, I would assume all those features would just be unavailable and the rest of the car would come fully loaded.

The entire auto industry is trying to move to autonomous cars and that just cannot be done with a manual transmission.

So I mentioned my depression to my wife. She says...

"Baby, its a tremendously beautiful coupe, you should just get it, regardless of the autobox..... because, remember, Im NOT giving up my manual, I will just buy a 2013 G37 Sedan 6MT when my lease is up"

Then it dawned on me.

If SHE gets a 6MT 37 Sedan, then whenever I get the third pedal itch, I will just borrow her car for a couple days and she can borrow my 400 horse coupe. Its ALMOST like the best of both worlds.

Thats it. Im grabbing me a White "Red Sport" with red interior and black carbon fiber trim. Im sure it will be absolute bananas once I wrap ALL the chrome trime in gloss black vinyl.

God, I f*cking love my wife.
Guess that makes two of us who love her, huh? LOL. You walked into that one. LOL

Chrome vent thingie behind the front wheels...no. Unless it's truly functional for brake heat dissipation? Still think it looks tacky. The 'ornaments' on the corners of the rear bumper...no. Seriously, what's the point of that? 3.0T emblem on the front quarters... I hope there are a couple of wheel options/sizes for customers, although unlikely. The stance looks good. Interior/seats...great.
Interest really should be in the new motor. 400hp twinturbo. Pushing around a 3,700 lb car, it will need those extra ponies. I trust they will have some nice color options. The lack of a 6MT is bad, very bad. I understand why, but this car (and cars like it) demand to be shifted, and not with paddles. I would not have either my Z or G if they were slushboxes. What I'm hoping, for those who will be purchasing, is eventually modding the engine. My understanding is the difference between the 300 hp and 400 hp versions is simply the tune. So, there should be room in the tune/parts upgrades on the 400 hp version for another 50-100 hp, especially on race fuel. On a twin turbo car, intake and exhaust alone should get you some very good gains. Remove those cats. Frankly, I'm most interested in what Nissan will do with a potential new Z with that TT motor. Will they give THAT a 6MT? Anyway, good discussion here. Nice to finally see the real thing.
You realize that the amount of power on tap here is Mustang GT type of power right? I can't think of another car in the price range with a higher weight/power ratio and yet not to many people complain that the S5/S4, 340i/440i and soon C450 are under powered. And this car has at least 40 more hp that the next closest competitor. I think you'll be ok considering you made do with 'just' 330hp all along.

Except that none of those things you mention have anything to do with the transmission. Hell, I have half of that on my 08 coupe which is a manual. Incorporation of a manual transmission would be incredibly easy if they chose to do so. It is also much cheaper to build. It's almost as easy as a simple swap, although there's a little bit more to it. But not much. And none of it is tied to the tech in the car.

The reason for no manual really is as simple as it seems - people just don't buy them in North America. Especially on luxury cars.

I really like the car, but...

  • If the AT is a carry over I'm out.
  • If the car weighs too much I'm out.
If the AT is slow shifting and not any fun or the car weighs so much it hurts it's performance I'm pouncing on the ///M2. That sucker is nearly fully loaded at a base price of $51,700 and it has a MT!

Yeah, I do. What is your point? I never said the Q60 was under powered. Simply that the extra ponies are nice to have to move a 3,700 lb. car. And with two turbos, extracting more power is/should be relatively easy, making the car even more fun! The highlight of this car should be the new engine, IMO. And for the record, I make do with 348hp, I own an IPL.
