Q60 Final Teaser - Revealed in Detroit
Same reason that its easier to find first drives on the RS400 Q50.
It's almost black with grey wood grain veins. Test drove one Friday that had it. Not too bad. Funny, I put a wood dash kit into my G37xS when I got it in 2011. Purchased almost the exact color via CarID.
Huh. Basically those veins are where the wood grain, as its growing, turns over on itself and when you cut it correctly you get either what's referred to as flame or quilt pattern. Most common in maple but occurs in other wood species as well. Anyway, that's where it gets its striped pattern from.
Are we sure they even use real wood in cars these days? The pattern always looks the same. I know on the QX80 Limited its not laminated but im not 100% its real wood. I think last time I saw real wood was on the older volovs
I wasn't referring to power when I mentioned perception, and I was simply referring to people comparing a Chevy to an Infiniti. In regards to the power statement I disagree, maybe lack of high performance models, but Infiniti has usually lead in class entry powertrains. I mean they were throwing the beloved VQ into everything which topped most of the competitions entries unless it was there high performance models. The BMW V6 turbos being the exception.
Again, I'm not trying to take away from the M's performance, but just because they charge $80k for a car doesn't mean it's worth it. They start in the mid 60's, but you can spec one into the 90's, which is just insane and not even close to being worth it. I've heard of a lot of people already saying the M2's interior is somewhat disappointing and feels cheap in many places. Great cars to drive, but owning one is another story.

But anyways, back to the topic.
it did feel grainy like real wood.
great discussion about BMWs and other cars compared to the Q60! but what is up with dealerships modifying the these Q50/60 sport models on their own?! like the last one with the completely blacked out Q60 coupe. lol, aftermarket mods happen AFTERmarket, when its sold to the customer, these dudes are pairing with private body shops for i guess pre-aftermarket mods! well at least there is a lifetime warranty on that paint, and it looks good on this car. I dont think this occurred with the G37 or G35.
Its not different than when the dealers due the pin strips, wheel locks, and "gold" emblems. Not its window tint, black out chrome with vinyl and clear bras.
Dealership does it, "OMG, thats rice! Kill it with fire"
New60RSlover does it, "Bro that looks amazing, I want to do mine, how much did it run you? PM me"...

I know in my M with the White Ash with silver dust rubbed in it's real wood. My Sterling had real burled walnut. It's has so many coats of clear coat hence the smoothness. If I could "feel" the grain still I would call it cheap .... IMHO. A veneer is still real wood, just a thin layer.
Has ANYONE bought one yet? LOL When the G35 came out, I saw tons of them in the first week!
Maybe people already have a Genesis Coupe!
