HELP- "Tinging" noise
HELP- "Tinging" noise
2008 G37s 6mt Coupe
60k Miles
I recently installed some Vossen VVS-084's and since then I get a bizarre "Ting" on the drivers side rear. My car is stock Sport height, and the rear wheel specs are 19x10 ET32 with 255/35/19's. It clears the caliper, suspension etc.. I absolutely can not figure it out.
It almost sounds like a tent pole hitting cement... it happens when i'm going at a slow speed and hit any type of bumps, but seems like it's happening more frequently now. It may occur at higher speeds, but at that point I can not hear it. Any help is appreciated! If any further details are needed please let me know.

Lateral link making contact with sway bar? Is a sway endlink broken? Either way, if it's making the sound you describe, it would leave a contact mark, so look for scratches or some kind of evidence of metal rubbing metal on all the rear suspension links and exhaust/hanger/heatshields.

I thought that might be it, but nope. The Vossen center caps are just a rounded cap with tabs. Open in the center. Thanks for the reply
You need to be able to inspect the car from underneath while the suspension is compressed. I suspect that all your looking has been done with the car lifted, and hence with the suspension unloaded. You need to remember that the observed clearances will change as the suspension compresses both statically and dynamically.
