slight popping sound after hard acceleration

Last night while driving after a hard acceleration I heard a crackling like noise that sounds very similar to the CATS cooling off once the car is off. Any idea on what's wrong? Also noticed my car is a bit noisier than usual during an idle, is that possibly the VVEL??Car just hit 51k 08g37s

It's the sound of your car cracking its knuckles and saying: Was that all you got?
