G37 Sedan Exhaust Sound
Just wondering, I have 2011 G37s sedan
I really liked this sound before hearing from a G35/37 coupe, 350/370z
but how come we don't even get this sound...
is there a way make sedan sound like that? Can I swap FX muffler with mine?

the coupes and fx have the 1 in 2 out rear muffler that mounts transverse under the trunk.
the sedans have 2 separate mufflers which _may_ flow better
In any case, having the single muffler would totally kill trunk space.

The exhaust diameter on the sedan is smaller from the Y-Pipe back as compared to other members of the Nissan family (there are alot of threads that talk about this). This was most likely done to minimize noise in the cabin as many people that buy this car equate excess exhaust noise to cheap.
If you are not one of those, folks like Top Speed make a Y-Back setup with a slightly increased diameter tubing.
If you want to go to a full 2.5 inch diameter, Stillen makes a setup for the sedan, but many feel that their exhaust is a bit too loud for some tastes.
I personally like the dual muffler setup of the sedan and don't like how most newer cars are transitioning to the single muffler with two outputs. I'm an old school motorhead, so I'm subjective.

Very attractive tips and cans, and a fair price, IMO, with DIY install and good fitment. But don't get your hopes up about sound.

G37 Sedan Exhaust Sound
I have the tanabe's and if you're looking for looks it's definitely a solid upgrade. The sound is a tad deeper, but nothing you'll be blown away by. Top speed is louder and deeper. Muffler delete is just obnoxious. The tanabe's weren't a bad purchase, but I was disappointed in the sound after the install. I have a sound clip I can send you. Pm me. Attachment 114923

There are choices across the spectrum from mild to wild. Everyone can find something with which to express their inner car.

LOL, what? Where did I say that? My comment was pointing out that other manufacturers supply a 2.5" exhaust for the Sedan. How you came to the conclusion that I was knocking Stillen is a bit of a mystery.
...however. Now that you went there, yes, I think Stillen products are overpriced and mediocre, relying more on brand awareness than quality. I also think the cans & tips on the Stillen catback look very attractive, like they could be an OEM sport exhaust upgrade.
IMO, Infiniti missed the boat over the 11 year model run for the 1st and 2nd gen G, and should have offered a Sport Exhaust upgrade option on these cars. I'm sure Stillen would have obliged. They're already selling their parts as dealer-installed anyway.
Worth every penny. Step up.

I do like the stillen cans / tips tho. They look nice to me. But for FI, is it the build quality or overall performance (gains, sounds) etc that gets it over stillen. Or is it just cause people like FI.

No, I did nothing of the kind. I quoted socketz67.
I suspect people here like FI because of the design, build quality and sound. Those are my reasons. I suppose there are some people who like FI just because, but that's weird.

+1 on Rochester's reasons. Also, I like having stuff that is made just for lil' ol' me. .
