G37X Coupe

Are there any problems with the x coupe? I see a lot of them for sale in South FLA and they are slightly cheaper. I'm wondering if they are for sale more due to issues. Also obviously living in South FLA I don't deal with snow so I'm not sure why there are so many for sale down here. Since it's basically 4 wheel drive is the real world gas mileage horrible?

No problems. There are probably a lot for sale there cause no one needs them and no one buys them haha

They are all wheel drive not 4 wheel drive. The front only kicks in when the back end slips. You don't need an X. There are no problems what so ever.

Yeah I know I don't need the x model but I'm having trouble finding another suitable alternative. Guess I'll just keep looking.

I have had both types. The S is lower to the ground and more sporty. The X sits higher up doesn't handle as well as the S but still handles well. You could always throw a set of springs in it, change the wheels and tires then you would be all set. I need the X for the snow.

It's all the New Yorkers who move down and bring their cars with them.

Know the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee?

A Yankee goes home...

Gas mileage is probably a bit less, but it's negligible. No big maintenance issues. You want to keep the same model & size tires rotated on any AWD vehicle, otherwise it can put stress on the system, but that's the only difference maintenance-wise. The AWD system is adapted from the GTR; it's an incredible system the critics rate at the top, or in the top few AWD systems from any manufacturer. Don't just think of AWD for snow, but it's good in rain and the twisties as well, and offers better engine braking. Unlike most front-wheel preferred AWD systems, like Sixtus above said, it's rear-wheel centric. Drives like a luxury sport, but when things get dicey, the fronts kick in just enough. You don't need it where you are, but it's nice to have wherever you are. You don't have the option of a M/T with it, but if you're looking for A/T, that doesn't pose a problem for you. So many people here work on suspension, so you may want to change that with whatever model you get, but without needing to go over snow or rough dirt roads, you'll definitely want to lower a x in FL as it does sit up high. I still would like to put in coil overs and the big Okebono brakes on mine. The car is great overall, but suspension is where it is lacking like all of the G's. If you see an S and are comparing it to an xS, they cheaped-out on the sport package on the x, and didn't include the Okebono's on it, so adjust accordingly. I'm in the mountains and would definitely benefit from the big brakes, but most people seem to like the base brakes, but people do LOVE the Okebono's. Anywhere in the north, the AWDs sell for much more than the rear wheel drive, similar to an S. Since you can save some $ on a x, you'll have some left over to put into some mods that will make it tailored better to what you want. Some of the highest horsepower modified cars I've seen on this site used an x as you can get more power to the ground, so you shouldn't think of it as a reduced performance option. You should be happy to get the added performance at a reduced price; that doesn't happen often.

Also, performance options were slow to come out for the x, but now are widely available, so that's no longer a problem.

The only real disadvantage I see, is most of those AWD came from up north, were driven in the snow, and may have been exposed to salt. Consider how many winters and where it was from plus a thorough inspection to assess any salt damage.

Good luck with whatever you get. You'll be happy with any of the coupes.

Xcoop pretty much summed it up, except the sport brakes are manufactured by "Akebono"

A G37x seems wildly unnecessary in Florida, but there are a few rolling around texas, so idk. Definitely drop it a little, the wheel gap is tremendous in the G37x

Well you were half right, the XS Sedan doesn't come w/ the big Akebonos, but the XS coupe does
