Warranty expiring soon, need advice

Hey everyone,

My warranty on my 2009 G37S coupe is going to expire soon. I'm hoping you all can give me some advice on things to look out for/check that I may get replaced for free before my warranty expires. I've been searching these forums and interweb for awhile, but haven't really found anything helpful.

I would say that, in general, I don't have great attention to detail, and I don't know what types of things are covered under warranty vs what wouldn't be. Given that, I'm worried I'm going to overlook things and miss the opportunity to get them fixed.

Here's a list of some issues I have noticed that I think should be covered or i could at least get them investigated while under warranty. I've ranked them in order of concern/annoyance to me:
  • Sometimes hear a clicking/ticking noise from engine area when idling when the clutch is pressed in. The noise seems to be at a random cadence and can happen as frequently as 4-5 times in a second or go for several seconds without making the ticking sound
  • Rattling noise in the speaker area of passenger door
  • Hear a little bit of wind when sunroof is shut, I suspect the seal is slightly loose
  • Passenger side fog light does not turn on
  • Breaks squeak sometimes when in reverse
  • Sometimes won't shift into first gear from neutral while stopped. Shifting into second, then back into first fixes the problem
  • Cabin lights flicker when I push on them
  • Chrome finish on rims looks to be peeling off at some spots
  • Driver seat looks very worn and has started to bubble a bit
  • Driver seatbelt does not retract all the time
  • Scratches on interior driver door panel and 2 small dents, probably related to seatbelt not retracting and getting jammed in the door
  • Appears to be some dust/mild scratches on the interior of the headlight glass

However, I don't know what I don't know. How easy is it going to be to get these items addressed? Are there any other things that most of you have taken advantage of? Are there other issues that I should be aware of? Any info or comments are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Lots of views but no responses! I'm not looking for anyone to blow my mind. Any thoughts on my current list of issues? Any general words of wisdom or things to look out for before the warranty expires?

Thanks!
Dan

  • Sometimes hear a clicking/ticking noise from engine area when idling when the clutch is pressed in. The noise seems to be at a random cadence and can happen as frequently as 4-5 times in a second or go for several seconds without making the ticking sound

Let your service writer make note of this and go from there.

  • Hear a little bit of wind when sunroof is shut, I suspect the seal is slightly loose

They should replace the moonroof seal
  • Passenger side fog light does not turn on

More than likely needs a bulb, take care of this yourself or pay the dealer to.

  • Breaks squeak sometimes when in reverse

Really depends how good your dealer is. Some will tell you its normal, my buddy had his rotors turned for free, didn't resolve the issue, he complained some more and they replaced all 4 rotors.
  • Sometimes won't shift into first gear from neutral while stopped. Shifting into second, then back into first fixes the problem

I'm personally not sure what would cause this? Might be the syncros, but I'm not too fond of transmission issues, but I'd let your service write know.

  • Cabin lights flicker when I push on them

Could be a bad connection, let the service write know again.
  • Chrome finish on rims looks to be peeling off at some spots

Doubt anything will come of this, but it doesn't hurt to ask
  • Driver seat looks very worn and has started to bubble a bit

I had my seat bottom replaced under warranty, as well as many other due to "seat bubbling"
  • Driver seatbelt does not retract all the time

If they can duplicate the issue at the dealer, they'll probably replace the mechanism.

  • Scratches on interior driver door panel and 2 small dents, probably related to seatbelt not retracting and getting jammed in the door
  • Appears to be some dust/mild scratches on the interior of the headlight glass

As far as the last 2, doubt anything will happen with those either, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.

Rebel - Not sure how to explain it. Essentially the part of the seat that I sit on is getting worn down and sort of "loose" so it sort of looks like it has a couple big bubbles underneath its surface.

Still looking forward to hearing any other opinions or suggestions!
