Hood support strut replacement
This is what I got as a replacement when my stock ones have out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ya/ref=...557489-0717056 they took about 5 minutes to swap out and haven't given me any issues at all
LOL at the guys saying "stop being cheap and Infiniti is the only way to go"... Wealthy folks didn't get wealthy by being loose with money. Be smart, shop around. I bought some cheap eBay struts about 3 years ago for my Lexus coupe trunk and hood, they are as strong as ever and the trunk opens itself if I hit the button on the fob. $25 for the pair with a lifetime warranty..
granted this thread is older than dirt.. but i had to replace my hood struts on my G.. you can get them at any advanced auto parts or auto zone.. can't remember what I spent.. but it was less than $40. and they're easy to replace.. obviously either have someone help you to hold the hood, or brace the hood with a 2x4 or whatever.
I replaced mine on an 08 sport coupe for $67 walk out the door fron Auto Zone...They worked better than OEM...Infiniti wanted $360 plus labor and tax...also valve stem caps from Infiniti where $56...Auto Zone $3
