In years past, some folks who wrecked their bikes doing track days have been able to collect damages from their insurance companies. In more recent times, some insurance policies have enacted specific clauses of where/when coverage applies. It might be worth a shot for the OP to at least explore that option to see if there's some possibility of reimbursement.

. Really don't want to have to explain myself.Closed course like a track does not automatically equal competition or racing.
Sorry about your loss Danny, financially but most of all emotionally. I can empathize.
And one thing I can tell you: you will be back at the track at some point in the future. It's not a disease that has any cure. Maybe not immediately. But you'll go back. Everyone does. It's inevitable.

Wow, sorry to hear that man. Can you explain what insurance does (if anything at all) if you wreck your car on the track? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to disclose it publicly, if you feel comfortable enough to explain it in the first place.

Insurance will treat it like it's any accident. Take statements from all parties involved. Take statement from witness. Look at your policy for exclusion....etc.
It is very important to have a solid/good insurance company.

Danny,
Sorry to hear about this loss bro. It sucks that you lose all your time and effort put into the G, but in the end everything is replaceable. Just be thankful that you made it out safely. I look forward to your next build! Btw it looks like you live very close to me. I live near Meadowood & Culver.

Thoughts goin out to ya from the east coast, bro. May she rest in peace and may your next project be equally worth while to you. Risk is just part of the game when we climb behind the wheel the way we do. Being drivers by nature, its just a part of who we are. May fortune smile upon you in your next endeavor.
Damn Danny... losing the cars suck and I can totally relate to how you feel about the race track. I haven't tracked my G, but I have taken my bike out there several time. Everytime you crash or have an accident, family and friend will understandably be worried sick about you and wish that you either limit or completely stopped what caused you pain. Ultimately, you have to decide if taking those risks are really worth it. I'm glad you walked relatively unscathed. The G did it's job and took care of you the same way you took car of it for all these years.
Wow, just saw your FB pics...didn't realize it was that bad. Just glad you're in one piece buddy. I guess being buff pays off since you only bruised your ribs instead of breaking them.
Anyway, I hope you come out of this okay both physically and financially. Let me know if you want to grab a bite to eat some time, I'm always around your area. My treat!

Wow Danny, i'm glad you're OK, and i'm sorry to know about the whole story of the accident. But you sir, are a True Enthusiast, and you have my utmost RESPECT. You nailed at explaining just how a true enthusiast feel about their ride, which makes me feel bad at how i treat my ride sometimes. Knowing the whole ordeal definitely makes it so much harder to see the after pics of your ride.
I want to wish you good luck for the insurance and hopefully everything will go smoothly, with a heart like yours, i wouldn't be surprised if you come back with another awesome ride soon.

Haha no way man I'm just in normal shape. Especially when compared to you, I'm just barely trying to keep up.
As of now, I'm a-ok on both fronts thanks to a lot of good people. Are you roaming in Irvine still?
Thank you sir. And thank you even more for the nice gesture you sent my way a few months ago. It is being kept proudly on display at home.

sorry about the car, glad your ok!! I'm the kind of guy that trys to find the positive in everything, so here's my best effort....
Once you recover and the ins company does there thing, you get to start all over modding on a new car, and any little thing that you didnt like on the last one, you can do it however you want this time, with the experience and knowldege on your side.
Again, glad that your ok.

I'm really sorry to hear about your car. I do know how they can become part of the family.
However, it could have been much worse. I haven't read all the posts, but it sounds like you're ok, and that's all that really matters. Your car can be replaced, you cannot. I know you've heard it before, and you think, that will never happen to me, but I am here to tell you, it happens to people who never think it will happen to them either.
4 years ago I was run over while changing the oil on my wife's car while laying down in my driveway. The driver was drunk and driving 3x the posted 15 mph speed limit. The truck hit me and then became airborne, flying through the air and through the front bay window of my 1888 victorian. One of my first thoughts was he ruined the best part of my house.
My house got fixed; I did not. I am now a wheel chair confined parapalegic, I've endured 2 full years of hospitalization and now have 40 injury-related surgeries and counting. I went from being a ski bum and dirt biker to now leading a much more boring, sedentary life. My life expectancy has diminished by a decade. While I have only skiied twice since it happened (I use to do that in half a week), I will one day get back to skiing regularly and even dirtbiking. I've lost the ability to control bodily functions, I have no sexual function, my wife left me; my life now is just a fraction of the freedom and fun that I formerly had. I will continue to rehab and hope to get more back, but my life has forever been changed.
So as bad as you feel about losing the car, feel lucky that that is all it was. Just an excuse to get a better newer model. While I do feel very unlucky for getting run over, I do feel very lucky for surviving. If you look at it the same way, I think you'll agree your situation seems somewhat superficial and trivial compared to mine. I don't want to belittle losing your car, but it really could have been so much worse. Be thankful for what you have. I'm glad you were not hurt, and I look forward to reading a future post on your next vehicle that will fill that void.

and on a lighter note...
Did you measure engine compartment temperatures before and after having on the vented hood? I'm at high elevation and the cooler the intake, the more dense the oxygen, which I believe would negate some of the negatives of altitude performance. I live at 7,800 and regularly travel to 11,000 to sometimes as high as 14,000. You lose a lot of ponies at those elevations. Usually you only see intercoolers on forced induction systems, but I would think that would be a nice functional mod especially considering the environment I live in.
Now that's what you call a first class thread jack, but I thought we needed a little change of attitude after my last post. Much more fun talking cars.
