Programming Infiniti FOB

Hello
Recently purchased my 08 G37 from a non-Infiniti dealer, and realized after I got home that the second key fob they gave me would not work, and was obiously not right for my car - the little metal key would not fit the door lock. the information on the back of the FOB is:
INO-0076
FX35-AM800076
ESI PR&MEDIA
301-218-1698

Been searching the web, but cant find instructions on how to add just this key rather than reprogramming both. I am obviously concerned about fouling up the one that works and being SOL.
Thanks for any help

Is the key the issue or the remote or both? Batteries seem to die in the remotes fairly quickly. Also, if the remote is fine check EBay--you can pick up a new uncut key fairly cheap. From what I have found searching on programming, the dealer has to do it on all 08+. Seen prices around 50 bucks.

yea - i did that, but they were more like - tough - one key worked and we got the $$! They were going to call the previous owner, but I would bet my left x that they arent going to do anything. I was just wondering if there was a way to sync a remote to a car without going to the dealer. If I have to, I will.

ok i see now. yea there in no self program for us to do.

As long as the fcc codes match on both remotes, find a local locksmith that programs keys Nissan tried to charge me $96, found a local LS here in lancaster $50 for the program and cut a new key.

You might try asking your question on some Nissan forums. I would think it would be the same, as far as linking the FOB.
I bought a CPO BMW several years back, that only came with one smart key. I had them order me another as part of the deal. When it came in, I picked it up from parts. It wasn't until I was home until I realized it had to be linked.
I called up the BMW service dept. and talked them into giving me the instructions on how to link the key, so I wouldn't have to drive back to them.

If thats the case, then someone else has your second key.

Go back to the salesman, and demand of them to reprogram both to new specs.

Its a liability issue with them.

Go back to the dealership where you bought the car. This is a bad issue cause some one has the keys to your car. If they do not program it you file a suit against them because you do not want to come out to your car missing and no trace of forced intrusion.

you watch to many csi shows lol/jk
"forced entry" makes no real difference in stolen car reports. its not like a house burglary.
Cars are stolen by tow truck constantly without a trace(unless its on cctv). Now a days regular RF scanners programmed to pick up the radio frequency of key-remotes is the way to steal a car or to break in without forcing entry.

Yeah but those scanners cost a arm a leg. I saw a documentary on that and man it was scary, but how many thieves have those kind of machines =P. Well I take that back one of my co workers got his c63 amg stolen with scanners.

It costs a couple hundred bucks. a regular scanner is $99 at radio shack, and a digital is about $350 now a days. a couple mods to it here & there and now you can transmit signals, not only pick up. (federal crime to hack a scanner to make it transmit!)
you can actually use a laptop & a wifi card to pick up garage door openers too.

a small percentage of car thieves just happen to be walking down the street and decide to steal a car. most car thieves premeditate their crime, get all the appropriate tools, and hunt/stalk the cars down. If someone is motivated, they will save the money. premeditated crime is the key here.

Yeah, I might have to go back to the stone age (well not really) where they had to hand crank the car. =).

iKeys use RF technology so they do not transmit like on a garage door opener. Only a Nissan / Infiniti dealer can pair the car to the key(s) using CONSULT PC and software which is only available to dealers.

You'll need to take ALL keys to the dealer at the same time. Once the dealer is done pairing the keys to the car, ONLY those keys are supposed to work.

I'm not sure if it is possible to get key blanks cut without buying the RF part of it as well so you might have to buy a complete set anyways.
