Cracking/chipping on steering wheel
Then ask him how you could pay $40K for a car (even if you didn't) with a steering wheel where the finish can scratches off. That might do the trick. GL
Just talked to the service department at Southwest Infiniti here in Houston and they said that they wouldnt cover it. Which I think is complete BS. I have a FULL warranty package on my 08 G37S Coupe
I argued that it's a defect and it wasn't like I had scratched something with a sharp object. I also argued that the newer models had the EXACT same interior except for ONE part. guess which one?!?!
I put in a call to the Consumer Affairs line and I'm hoping to get this resolved. Will keep everyone posted.

If you're out of bumper-to-bumper warranty and on the elite/extended warranty, it does not cover interior bits, so it'd have to be a "goodwill" repair, which is a lot less likely....
If I didn't get mine replaced, I would have tried putting that 3M Di-noc stuff on it. People around hear have done a nice job with it.
I had to go to 3 dealerships to get my steering wheel replaced. Holman and Willowgrove Infiniti are like that is normal wear and tear. Finally went to Infiniti of Ardmore and they took care of me.
Still trying to get my bubbling seat replaced. All 3 rejected and said they have never seen a bubbling seat before. I think its bull.

seems like some people are having issues with getting this replaced, i took my 08 coupe in 2 days ago to the Kearny Mesa inifiniti dealership in San Diego and spoke with Ernesto and mentioned to him i was a forum member, and we chatted a little bit about stuff (built raport with him) and then i got to details of why i was there, explained to him that my car wouldn't fill gas fully, so he came out to my car, noticed my steering wheel, and shifting **** were scratched up, and got them both replaced for me, AS WELL AS replaced my brake pads and put some type of air packets for my front brakes so they stay cool (squeaking problem) all for free. I had an excellent experience and definitely recommend Ernesto and this dealership to anyone that can make it out here. also, being courteous and tipping them (he was comission based) def. helps.
Had a similar issue. Im in Miami. Took it to the dealer switched it out no problem. All I said was that i noticed this to my wheel. They looked at it and said it looked like wear and not a careless scratching or whatever on my part so they would replace it. They did in a matter of days but for a plastic one that won't chip that that soft rubberized one I had before.
After hearing and seeing all this about chipping steering wheels and seeing that mine is in perfect condition after 35,000 miles, I have to ask if all of you that have this problem drive with your hands in that position on the wheel?
Or is it from using the radio and cruise control buttons?

And I've seen some have said some of the 2010's have the problem too...???
I have a 2010 sedan and my steering wheel looked just like the OP's. I went to Sawgrass Infiniti and told the Service Consultant that my steering wheel was peeling. He initially said it might not be covered but then called me later and said it was approved. They replaced the steering wheel and the bezels and its a totally different material. Its basically impossible to scratch now. He said that's the material they use on 2011's and up. They also replaced the aluminum trim on both doors(my watch had molested the drivers side trim) and the shift **** which was also scratched up as well. I've always received great service.

But i digress, each request was replaced with no hesitatation except for the leather seat. They told me it would have to get approved before replacing. After 24 hours got a call back that the seat would be replaced. Sawgrass Infiniti has been great in regards to getting these repairs done. In fact, my watch is starting to scratch my alum trim again.. Might take it back this weekend.
Isn't Sewell Infiniti close to you? I've heard that they take care of people.

is there a thread or "how to" on the 3M stuff?
Hi all! I am currently outside of my warranty coverage but just had the dealer agree to replace my steering wheel and door handles under the good-will warranty (WOW, I know?)
However, the service manager just called me and advised me that the "button trim" didn't arrive on time and that it might be another day or so until I get my car back. I asked him if the entire wheel was being replaced and he said no, only the finisher.
Is he mistaken or is this now the case?

Keep us posted on this. I have never heard of getting just the bezel(finisher) replaced. If so this might be a cheaper fix for folks outside of warranty.
