Just got mine replaced today! Along with the instrument cluster dash part and new muffler due to exhaust rattle. Forgot to ask about the door handles though.

I recently went to a dealership in TN and they wouldn't do it. They told me that they called Infiniti or whoever is in charge of them and was denied. I don't know why this happened since the warranty covers it.

got my steering wheel, shifter **** and door handles swapped. i love all of it except i dont know how i feel yet about the steering wheel...i liked the darker black and the feeling of the leather better. i like the grippiness of the new one but it feels kinda cheap in my opinion. am i the only one that thinks this?

also, does anyone else have any ideas of what i should get looked at/try to replace before my warranty is up? the rattle i'm going to quote below is an idea of something i didnt think of but should consider before it's up. i just wanna get whatever i can covered before warranty's up.

If you have the exhaust rattle you won't love the sound. It's usually a cold start problem and has to do with the muffler separating internally. Mine was replaced twice, and it was embarrising to listen to.

Yea I was pretty upset over the whole situation, it took them an hour to tell me that. I don't have a lot of choices here in TN other than going to KY but my warranty expires on the 26 of this month.

The dashboard part that covers the instrument cluster separates by the trip computer buttons. I bet yours is separating but you haven't noticed.

And yes, the new one feels cheaper. I think the leather has to wear in before it feels like the old one.

Can you try to schedule an oil change or something and then bring up the steering wheel?

Sometimes bringing them a little business might help. They get money from infiniti regardless though. Installing the steering wheel and test driving it to make sure it's straight is at least 150 or so in labor charges that infiniti needs to reimburse the dealer.

I might try that but at another dealership. I've been going to the one in Franklin and they've haven't helped much. I had them do an oil change when I first got the car and they left some of the screws from the plastic part loose. Also I asked them about the brakes squeaking when I reverse and some guy told me that all the sport coupes do that. I later made an appointment for that and got it fixed.

Also it's normal for the new OEM muffler to be a bit quieter than the old one. Muffler packing material burns off over time and that makes the muffler a bit louder as it ages. For now in enjoying my rattle free but quieter exhaust.

Sooo... I took my car to the dealership to get my new tires mounted and an alignment. I told the Service consultant about my steering wheel, shift ****, and door trim peeling(this was due to my watch scratching it up) and they replaced everything under warranty.

For anyone who has had the muffler replaced, What type of rattle were you hearing? I know for about 20-30 seconds after a cold start my car sounds like an old diesel Mercedez. Was this the problem that you were having?

It's more of a paint can/tin can marble rattle.

But the cats also kind of rattle at startup for a few seconds so if you get rid of one, you still have the other.
