I REALLY wanted the Technology Package..
But my dealer couldn't find one on a coupe or convertible. I settled for a convertible with everything but the Tech Package, but I still find myself wanting the adaptive cruise control (ACC.) I got to thinking (dangerous I know...)
Is it possible to add the appropriate sensors, after the fact, to incorporate ACC into a 2011 convertible?
I've read that all of our 'G's' come pre-wired for the illuminated kick plate option, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume the ACC is pre-wired as well?
I'm posting this in the coupe forum, as it seems to have the most traffic (and I can't imagine the ACC is any different between a coupe and convertible...)

It's actually called "Intelligent Cruise Control." I doubt that it would be cost effective to add it even if it were possible. I have it on my 2008 G37 coupe, and unless they have made a lot of improvements, it's really not that great. When I bought the car, I thought it sounded like a cool feature. In actual use though, it's a little annoying, lots of things affect how it operates. The way I drive, it seems to get in the way more than it helps (ie. it may apply the brakes when I actually want to increase my speed.) I'm glad I have the option to use the "regular" cruise.
It might be but im not sure. Some things are pre-wired and some are not. Example if you want paddle shifters because you dont have the sport package, as long as you are NAV equipped the the paddles are prewired.
It would be prohibitively expensive to add the features to a non tech pkg car, if possible at all. I have the tech pkg and absolutely love it. It was a deal breaker for me, I ordered from the factory to get the options I wanted. The short wait was well worth it for me.

I kinda figured the ICC addition wasn't practical, but I had to ask... My dealer offered to order the exact vehicle I wanted in May, with an October ~maybe~ delivery (He kept blaming the earthquake & tsunami for the delay.) I'm patient, but not that patient.

in the 2 years I've owned my car... I've used the ICC a total of 4 times? I mean... if you have a long commute everyday then I'd say it MIGHT be worthwhile.... but I don't think it's worth the hassle and the $$$ to install even if it was possible... =T just my 2 cents.
illuminated kick plates are an easy install. 20 maybe 30 minutes. Just have to hide the wires behind the dash and you're all good. the plates daisy chain with the wire that connects your cabin lights, both connect to the same plug in the passenger foot well. behind the lower right plastic panel.
I do remember seeing someone put on the adaptive cruise control... but the install is going to cost more than had you bought it with the car.
I mean you're talking the module, the wiring, and the BCM program to interface with it.
Unfortunately, unless it's a dealership add on.. you're SOL. this is why I always recommend people to buy exactly what you want, because 1) this is a big purchase and 2-3k ain't going to kill you, and 2) you can't go back unless you're willing to spend a lot more money.
but yeah the only thing you're missing out on is the AFS. the rear sensors aren't exactly sexy, and the ICC isn't really that great...
i do like the pre crash seatbelts tho... I feel really safe... ha ha
