50% is the most strict? HAHAHAH In NY you can technically get a ticket if you have clear film on your windows lol.. Then only tint allowed is the back windshield...

Same here, mine is 30% and I had it done over in St. Louis. I see cars all day long with stuff so dark you can't see the driver from any angle really. The only ones the police make it rough on here are the ones they already know on a first name basis.

I personally would like mine to be 20, but I'm a bit paranoid about the law. Yeah, the cops around here don't seem to give a squat about tint darker than 35 right now, but all it takes is some jackass to shoot a cop and then the law comes back in full force locally (hefty fine here).

Seeing at night/tint

Hi Kirkster:

No problems seeing at night with the 35% tint. But I should have been clearer in my post (no pun intended). I said "all around" and in truth the windshield was not tinted aftermarket. Unless you have medical documentation and a special plate, here in IL we can't tint the windshield at all, excluding that 5 or 6" gradated strip across the very top that comes stock. I even asked my shop if we could throw on the barest little film on the front and he would not do it.

I *do* keep a copy of the IL tint law in my glove box along with a copy of the work receipt showing I have 35% just in case some donut-gobbler decides to pull me over and meter. I'm ready for 'em!

Have fun! Patti

I run 5% on mine as well but in FL it doesn't stop the heat much haha, 110° w/100% humidity is HOT!

doesn't the sunroof come tinted from the factory?

Thread rises from the dead . . .

Quick question related to window tinting. I really like the way the G37 looks when tinted, but I remember how crappy one of my previous cars looked when the tint began to bubble after 4-5 years. Is tint bubbling to be expected after 5 years? If so, can it be replaced?

Thanks,

BC

#1 You get what you pay for.
#2 Like my Father used to say, "I cannot afford to buy the cheapest".

Look for a installer that installs Formula One tint.

Rocking 15% ceramic here for about 4 months now, very small town no hassle from anyone. Just took a 6 state 2300 mile trip up into Canada and back, never a problem.
