NEW G37 Coupe Member ALERT
Im Jay, i recently bought my G37 about a month ago, i upgraded from a mustang. i must say there is ALOT difference. Im ready to interact with you guys and hopefully you can help me out as much as possible as i turn my base model into a sport, but even better. !

I have a couple of questions...
1. Whats the best Exhaust system i should get to keep that infiniti sound, but make it a bit louder?
2. Im getting new tires and rims, i want to do 20s, ive been told not to do 20s, and i been told that they are cool to get. (what do i do? and do i get different size for front and back?)
3. whats a good brake system i should get?
4. is there anyway to make or update my screen to make it a navigation, right now its just a 08 radio version.

Hey Jay, welcome! and congratz on the new ride. I'll try to answer you using my opinions.
1) tanabe axleback exhaust
2) I suggest getting a mild drop and some spacers for your stockies until you decide on exactly the kind of wheels u want. Eibach prokit springs and 20mm spacers all around.. even 25mm all around if u want hella flush.
3) get the OEM bbk
4) sorry SOL (though of course with enough money anything is possible

Thanks for the quick response. I'm still learning with all of this means, alot of this is new. im 24, but im learning! also by me getting all 20s inch tires, will that affect my speed and performance? because i was told to get 19s, but they don't stock alot of 19s and they cost more than 20s, i don't know why but they do.

Hay Jay,
I have tried 2 exhausts other than the stock exhaust, Stillen and Fast Intentions. The Stillen exhausts looks and sounds like the stock exhaust just a little deeper and louder. Fast intentions looks different as it separates the mufflers and is quite a bit louder than stock. Both sound great! As far as reputations go HKS is up there, but is pricey.
Before you get wheels, lowering the car slightly should be a priority. It makes the car look so much cleaner. Once that is done, there is nothing wrong with going with 20" wheels. I think on the G35 and 350z it's a little different as they can look too big for the car, but on the G37 it looks great. I suggest looking around the media share section, and choosing something you like.
Are you looking for the brake kit for performance or the looks? The stock sport kit is a decent kit, and will probably be the most affordable if you buy used. Other than that, the Project MU brakes seem to be a good choice.
Converting the navigation will cost more than it's worth. There are a couple of threads around with information about it though.

Welcome Jay, I agree with Xlack and Bref soo not much to add. Youtube some exhaust's on the G37 and see what you like. I know its not the same as in person but you can get an idea. I like the tanabe sound. Wheels, check out the media share forum and click on wheels and tires at the top. You will have days of material to look at. Good luck and keep us up to date on any mods.
Get an aftermarket Nav that plugs into the video jacks. I think kenwood makes one. That's your best bet. I have 20's on mine and it def compromises the handling a little. Stock 19's are better for the speed and handling in my opinion. I'm sure the other exhausts mentioned sound better than mine, but I have the borla and it sounds pretty good too.

As far as your nav goes...check out this thread. There are a few of us who bought the system and so far, it's exactly what we were looking for. Hawaiian821 might still have an extra one for sale. Shoot him a PM. The system won't dissapoint.

WOW , wasn't expecting this many responses, you guys are making this alot easier for me. Its hard asking people who don't own an Infiniti about what you should do. im about to look at some of these options you guys gave me and let you know how it came out.
I heard a thing or two about the jail break phone app. but does that work if i dont have the navi already? i just have a simple screen thats only shows radio info and thats really it. Im not even sure if i can play video on it, and if so.. how ? i bought video cords to hook up to my ipod, no video came out?

There are three parts to the modding process.
First part is to know your budget. How much are you willing to spend? Da mayor is right, it really depends on how deep your pockets are.. stating your budget is a great way for us to help you help yourself.
Second part is research, research, research. When I started modding, I researched and read up on the forums for so long until I decide to get the parts I really want. This has allowed me to keep all my parts until this day because I have never regretted the parts I bought.
Third part is the most important part. It is that you have fun! Modding should be something fun and enjoyable. Don't let what others think of your car affect your decisions. It's your money, spend it the way you want. Many times I've seen all the bashing and flaming and jeering.. but you know at the end of the day, as long as you're happy, that's all that truly matters.
Have fun and spend your money wisely.
