I have a 2011 G37x which I hear is prone to the rear timing gasket issue. My car has 39k miles and it is still under the powertrain warranty until 70k. Is it worth it to look into purchasing the Infiniti Elite Protection Plan in case the rear timing cover gasket becomes an issue after the powertrain warranty has expired? Thoughts? Has anyone had this issue covered under the Elite Protection Plan?
I thought 2012+ is not prone to this issue? I have a 2008 EX35 VQ35HR with 73k miles and just recently fixed due to this issue. I paid $50 deductible , but warranty work cost $2,800 including labor. The whole timing chain cover was replaced not just the seal.
Yeah last time I was at the dealer they were telling me it was seeping...I'm going to have them do a oil pressure test this week to see if it's true or not.

I just had to buy an 11' didn't I? Please let us know your results.

I was wondering where to look for any possible seeping. I looked all over the engine.. does the cover need to be removed?
Well I'm not wasting my money on the Elite plan (priced it out and too expensive at 2200, 100 deductible for 6 years/82k miles) and will just have the dealer do an oil pressure test and check to see if it's seeping right before my powertrain warranty is up. How many people who have 2011's have had this gasket replaced?

The rear timing cover is internal. You won't see any signs of it unless you tear into the front of the engine. You wont get any check engine light until it's already happened.

aw darn really sucks.. i have an appt today to get the OP tested at the dealer.
I'm at 61k and am considering purchasing extended warranty but i don't want to get ripped off. any ballpark ideas on how much it would be or any input on how it is calculated? thanks!

I'm not the guy to ask about that, I know squat about extended warranty or costs. I've never bought one or even looked into it.

Ouch seems pretty pricey.. I would call around try different dealers. I know the pricing varies dealer to dealer. i'll be shopping around for quotes really soon.
is the elite basically an extended warranty or does it cover a lot more?
I have the results from my OP test if anyone is interested.
