black plastic covers underneath car

I have a 2010 G37S coupe A7. I was looking underneath my car at the exhaust system and noticed I don't have the two black plastic covers on each side of the Y-pipe of the exhaust system.

I noticed other G37 pictures on this forum has them. Are they only there for certain year or you have to buy them?

Here are two examples:

Thanks.

can you show a pic of your car? i think your referring to the long plastic strips on both sides of the exhaust but im not positive and i think it would give others a better idea of how to help answer your question.

Yes, you got it! I'm referring to the two black plastic strip covers on both side of the exhaust.

I'm call the dealer today and book an appointment.

In the meantime, anyone who has a 2010 G37 coupe or sedan could take a look under their car to see if they have the two black plastic strip covers?

Thanks.

This reminds me of a similar story with me car. Sometime in the 2009MY production, Infiniti stopped placing the clear protector on the rear lower sill of the G37S (this protector only exists now on the body in front of the rear wheels and not on the lower sill) . I bought an 09 without this protector. The 08's had this and I thought I had a piece missing from the factory. Turns out Infiniti made a mid-year production change. The dealer nor an Infiniti Canada rep knew this, until the 2010MY came out.

My point is, it may be possible this is what has happend to this piece on your car. Have you inspected other 2010's or even 2011's?
That being said, it is possible this piece was removed during PDI or something and should actually be there.

I had an appointment with my dealer the other day. The service writer and I looked at several 2010 G37 coupes and sedans. A few have the two plastic strips but most don't have them. We checked with the parts department and the parts guy says only the early 2010 had them. The 2010 models that was built in 2009. We looked at a 2010 coupe built in January 2010 and it doesn't have them.

The service writer also showed me that my car don't have the holes drilled for those two plastic strips. If I want these plastics pieces then they would have to drill holes. No way I'm doing that to the bottom of the car!

AKG37 - I think you're right. Infiniti made a mid cycle change.
