Smalls questions about the 2011 G37xS Coupe

Happy New Year everyone! Happy worry-free motoring in your Gs!

Please note that I'm in Canada.

I have a small question that I would like to ask. Last year I test drove a G37x Coupe. While super nice, there was some points that put me away from it. It seems the 2011 G37xS coupe (the G37x coupe with Sport package) solved all of them, namely:
- Wanting AWD with sports brakes/high friction pads and sport seats;
- And I saw there was some TSBs about the 7AT and I guess that the tranny would learn my driving habits (the TL did with the 5AutotragicTranny).

I might be interested into becoming a part of the G family and trading in my 09 SH-AWD TL for a 2011 G37xS. Both car have there pros and cons (let's not discuss that, it's been beaten to death already) but I must say the rear seats of the TL have been used 4-5 times in 1.5 years so it's not much useful and while I really enjoy the TL, the thoughts of driving a sexy, smaller coupe are quite nice. The only mod I would do to the G37 would be lightweight wheels like some nice OZ or Enkei (I have some very nice OZ wheels and I really feel a good improvement coming from the lightweight wheels) and maybe an UPREV tune.

Now the 2 questions:
- Any 6'4'' 200-230ish athletic guys here that could comment on the sport seats? LAteral support? lowerback support? Comfy for long trips?
- I noticed an option for the exhaust of the 2011 G37xS coupe, anyone have additionnal info if it is for sound only or does it provides HP/TQ gains?

Thanks a lot for your advice!

I'm 6'4" 185 and love the seats. Much more comfortable than any other coupe this size that I've been in.

1. I am almost 6ft 4 and the only problem I have sometimes is not hitting my head on the roof while going over bumps. Then again I sit very close (like rally drivers) and I have noticed that there is much more head room in the G37xs then there was on my G35. As for comfort, not a problem! It feels amazing, and you can adjust almost anything!
2. The different exhaust from the factory only comes on the IPL which is not AWD. IF you want it you could probably get the dealership to install it for you, but I believe it wouldn't be worth it. There are many other aftermarket exhausts out there that are much better.

Cheers

Sitting position is very personal.

I tried the sports seat in 2009 during the test drive and found it too tight for my comfort for long drives (>2 hours). I am only 5-10 @180 lbs.

You should try this out and be your own judge.

Regards...

your TL would automatically shift to the next gear, while the Infiniti manual modes will bounce off redline.

You can always try and go rent a coupe for a day and see if you're comfortable before making your purchase

Not sure about the 2011 xS coupe, but the previous years xS models did not come with the sport brakes.

Might wanna double check that one.

It does in the USA, I don't know if it does in Canada.

The manual mode in the TL works the same way, only with 5 gears (yeah I know lol)

The idea of renting for a day or the weekend is a great one thanks!!

Very true! I wouldn't consider it if it was not the total package!
