moonroof air deflector= more noise?

So maybe i finally have lost it but maybe someone else has noticed this too. the other day I was driving on the highway around 60-70 and put my hand on the silver colored air deflector that pops up when the moonroof is open and pushed it down with my hand. I thought i was going to get the annoying noise you get but to my surprise it actually became quieter???? I told my friend who has a g35 sedan and he noticed the same thing. Has anyone else ever noticed this or maybe the two of us have finally lost it. I mean if this is true then why would infiniti put this on. I've been in other cars and when you do this it make that annoying noise of the air rushing in.

yeah, i've noticed it's quieter. the only thing i can see it being there for is to keep the air from rushing into the back seat area of the car.

My bimmer had a notched deflector. I wonder if doing the same would help.

What's funny is that in my bimmer my sunroof was always open, but in the G the noise makes it almost unpleasant.

Yeah it keeps a lot of dirt out of your roof/interior also. Drive like that with out the deflector for a month and you will see a lot of dust in the interior.

IMO it looks bad a$$ so I would never remove it. Also I dont hear wind noise with my 600 watt RMS system.

Ok good im not going crazy. I'll see if i take it off or not, noise doesn't really bother me too much just was confused as to why the air deflector which in other cars reduces but in the g caused more noise lol
