2008 G37 Problems

What's up everybody. I'm new to this forum because I just bought my G37. I have a 2008 G37S and i'm having condensation problems in my passanger headlight and I keep hearing a rattling noise underneath the car when its idling. I've already scheduled an appointment with my local Infiniti dealership and noticed that there have been some email traffic in regards to these problems. If anyone can let me know what it sounds like so that I can help the dealership narrow down the problem, it will be greatly appreciated. Also, have any of you had problems with the inside door handle thats used to close the door peeling? If so, did you have to replace the insert or did you have to take the door backing off?

From what I've seen on these forums, the 08 G37 had muffler problems, maybe that could explain the rattling. As far as the headlight goes, the vacuum seal is probably not as tight as it should be, so little amounts of air build up over time inside.

First time I've heard of condensation problems in the headlights, has it been modified in anyway before? Rattling issue may be the mufflers.

Nothing like that on my 08 Coupe (non-s). I do experience a rough idle on cold start up.

No it hasn't been modified at all. Its just water getting built up in the passenger side headlight housing. The driver side is fine.

Well it sounds like one of those things if you take it to the dealer to redo the light seal they could make it worse.

See this TSB to find out if your condensation is normal or not:

As for the rattling noises, yes it could be the muffler. Just to note, at idle, all G37's make a little ticking noise, I believe it's the metals under the car/exhaust assembly (usually heard after turning the car off though)
Muffler TSB: http://www.infinitig37.com/TSB/1SB19.pdf

The inside door cap can be replaced without taking the door off. Mine was replaced after the dealer damaged it. Look at the bottom/side of it, you will see a slot that is used to pull the insert off. May be covered under warranty if it is peeling.

I am having the same issue with my passenger headlamp. I tried finding a video showing what I may need to look at, but no luck there.

If money were no object, I'd just replace the headlamp and 3M cover that's on it and move on.
But, I hear that if you can find the source of the leaking, it could be as simple as replacing a rubber seal (much cheaper).

Problem is, I've never done either. I could try the dealership but they are 1.5hrs away and, frankly, I don't trust them. Any advice guys on any videos online detailing how to get to the lamp to see if it is something as simple a loose o-ring/connector. Many thanks, Lee

It is definately condensation in the light. I just wish I knew what parts to look at - or would it be best to take her to the dealership??

Regarding the rattling; I also have an '08 sport and within the first year, my muffler system was replaced by Infiniti. I took her in for an oil change and when I picked her up, I had brand new exhaust tips. They were slightly larger than what came on the car (definite improvement). I had little-to-no rattling noise after that.

Thanks in advance,
Lee
