So about a month ago, I noticed my car had a little shudder every time I would take off in first gear. Took it to the dealer, and they said it was a TSB for the rear end and they took care of it. I told the guy it seemed like the shudder was coming from the clutch, and he said he could not replicate it. I set up an appointment for today and took it back in. I had the shop foreman drive it and he noticed it. He said he things it's the pressure plate, but it could be the clutch or the flywheel. He said pressure plate would be covered under warranty, but the clutch and the flywheel are not. So it's either gonna be 0 bucks, or 2 grand to fix. I have never heard of a clutch going out in 43k miles. What is up with this car...it's always something.

Dont know what year your car is, but if its a 2008 g37s (which I have), they are known for clutch's going bad with low mileage..and yet it is blamed on the "driver" as wear n tear, which all of us know is BS! There is plenty of posts on this site referencing that.

Actually 43K miles on an Infiniti clutch is pretty damn good. My clutch went out at 18K miles, and infiniti told me it was my fault..which is crap. I have never had to replace a clutch on any car ive owned, 4 other cars, 60K miles +..

No problem for the links..I thought it was just me, until I found this site. Yeah, whats 'Unbelievable' is Infiniti telling me (and others) this is 'wear n tear'...total crap!! The treated me as if i was a 16 yr old new stick shift driver that was doing peel outs, etc.... Im at 18+ years of driving stick, never replaced a clutch ever, including my 2001 M3 that i had for 5 yrs and put 65K+ miles, plus I drove that m3 incredibly hard, a lot harder than ive ever driven the G37.

im guessing your clutch pedal stuck to the ground? i had that too slave cylinder issue but they dont wanna do a "Free" repair so they pass it off as a clutch problem. The infiniti tech that worked on my car said my car had about 80k miles left. and the shop i went to replace the slave cylinder issue said i had about 100k. so these clutches last long.
I had 2 independent mechanics (1 of which was at an Infiniti dealership) look at the old clutch/flywheel after Infiniti replaced it ($2600 bones), and both mechanics said it was 'NOT Normal' wear n tear. Both thought it was defective, with unusual divits/patterns in the clutch/flywheel. Infiniti consumer didnt do anything, even with an Infiniti dealership mechanic saying they thought it was defective.. They maintained that it was my fault, and my driving. Ridonkulous!!

Might want to give Riverside Infiniti a try if you are. They replaced my trans/clutch/flywheel on the house when I was having problems at around 30K miles.

I'm in AZ. I got a pretty good relationship with my dealership down there, so I'll see what they say before I take any further steps.

Well, I just spoke with my service adviser. He stated the pilot bearing went bad, so they are replacing it, as well as the clutch, the flywheel, and the pressure plate free of charge. I'm pushing to get the transmission replaced as well since first gear started popping out not too long ago and second gear began grinding. He said he will see what he can do.
Pay attention to the synchros. They make a very audible noise when downshifting in these cars. The master mechanic however noticed an improper 'whooshing' sound from mine. This is when they agreed to do the trans too. Drive 35 in fourth, and try to put the stick in second, but don't force it. Let the synchro do its job. You should hear a spooling sound or it speeding up the input shaft to match the engine speed. For me, this sound made the noise of a top spinning and got louder softer louder softer etc. Sounded almost like a rotary engine...

Well, just picked the car up from the dealer, and it feels like a totally different car. I didn't realize how much I got used to the gradually increasing vibration from the faulty pilot bearing. They replaced the whole clutch assembly as well as the faulty pilot bearing. I'm actually considering getting all my services done at Infiniti of Scottsdale now. Very honest, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. I was ready to spend the money to get everything fixed there if I had to pay for it, but I am very happy they didn't jerk me around. My service adviser also told me that my 1st gear popping out and the 2nd gear grind were caused by the faulty bearing, and once I got in my car and drove away, I didn't notice either one of those things. Like I said, feels like a totally different car. Big thanks also to everyone on this forum for the help and advice. It really shed a lot of light on the situation.
