How many G37 clutches have gone bad with low mileage?

So this weekend my clutch died on me out of the blue the car showed no signs that the clutch needed replacement any time soon. I had drove for about 2 hours and everything was fine as I'm parking the clutch died on me, no gears where going in I know that this has happened to other members. I'm beginning to think that this is a manufacturers defect; my clutch is gone with less than 20K miles, thats BS and no this is not my first MT car. Now my car is at the dealer and I doubt they gonna cover the clutch because is a wear and tear item.

So how many members on here have had clutch problems with low mileage on their cars?

that sucks man...unfortunately unless there is some kind of abnormal wear, I doubt they will cover it. And "low" mileage is somewhat subjective...are you talking about <5K, <10K, <20K...etc.

I hope they do replace it under warranty for you!!

i feel you man.. i hope that will never happen to me.. it's pretty scary that ..out of no where the clutch died and you can't put it in gear anymore.

When does it happen? i hope it didn't happen to you late at night while you are driving alone. How did you move the car after that? did you call the tow truck?

Are you sure the clutch itself is gone? Maybe there's something else causing the problem? I've heard of a few guys complain about clutch slave cylinder problems....

You right, many ppl have said that its the slave cylinder. It did happened out of the blue I was parking went into reverse, car started stalling clutch got hard there was some griding noise and a bang, put the car in neutral turned off and on, pushed the clutch and it would not come back up. I called roadside assistance. Luckily the sun was still up here and I was near a tunnel. I will keep you guys updated, lets see how the dealer tries to rape me.

Your friction surfaces are wear items. The master cylinder and CSC are not and should be covered by warranty unless they find some sign of abuse/misuse. I have 60K and mine is just starting to slip and will be needing replacement. If yours just quit all of a sudden with absolutely no warning, it's not the friction surfaces.

No problems here. I only have 9,800 on the odometer though. Fingers crossed I don't have any. My car really isn't driven hard.

It sounds like the slave cylinder. I had that problem with my Jaguar X-Type Sport. Clutches die over time, they don't just go ka-plunk.

It should be covered under warranty. Even if not, it's a fairly easy replacement in almost every car I've owned with a manual tranny. Good Luck.

Unfortunately CSC replacement n this tranny requires dropping it.

I had the slave cylinder replaced on mine a few weeks back but my symptoms were nothing like what you are describing. My clutch pedal would stick to the floor board almost like the line had an air bubble in it. Then after about a second it would release. The clutch itself was still strong because once in gear and with the pedal released it drove just fine.

The dealer replaced mine under warranty. There is an Infiniti bulletin out for the slave cylinder issue.

Good luck, there is no reason to have a clutch go bad that early unless you are just not a good manual driver.
