Thumbs up Why did you buy your G???

Ok, so I posted this discussion over in the Sedan section, first. But for those of you that rarely visit there, I thought I would ask this here.

Whether you are a new owner or 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc... owner. Why did you buy your G- Coupe, Convertible or Sedan? Was it the value, performance, style or other reason? What other cars have you owned or what other cars did you look at and how does the G compare? What would you tell someone that is a potential buyer of the G series?

I bought my coupe because I love the styling and the engine. Buying last November when the G's were heavily discounted helped also.

I was just fooling around with looking at cars last summer - I wasn't serious about buying. I decided my next car had to be:

1. Rear wheel drive
2. Manual
3. (preferably) Imported
4. Refined and stylish

This pretty much left me with BMW and Infiniti in my price range. I started comparing the two and just couldn't fall in love with the bimmers, they look too blah and I couldn't justify their price. Also, a couple of people at work had an older g35 sedan and an M45 which I liked a lot. So November/December rolls around and I get the itch, start searching cars.com and the used lots. Early into the new year I had my coupe I sometimes wish I had looked harder at the 370Z but I think I made the right choice.

I was looking for a powerful, sleek, classy car to buy myself when I graduated from college...

I was originally looking at the 350Z (before the 37 came out) and then as soon as I saw the G37 it was exactly what I was looking for. It is a classy, powerful car. It looks good, sounds good, and performs with the best of them

I drove a G20 for about a decade and had always wanted a coupe. Once Infiniti announced they were coming out with a G Coupe + AWD I was sold.

IMO, Infiniti is the BEST value in Luxury cars. Had an M35X on a four year lease. Was VERY happy with that but wanted to try out a new brand, when the lease was up. While I was testing out BMW's I got the idea of a coupe. I went back to the Infiniti dealership with a new perspective. Did not like the coupe at first sight. But with some massaging (read the 'vert model), it started to grow on me. And a hard top convertible made sense in Canada. My list was:
1) MB E350. Too gutless and floaty
2) MB E550. Probably a lot better, but too expensive ($79K in Canada, loaded).
3) Audi S4. Tried to like, but too short and loaded was $79K in Canada.
4) Lexus RX350. The nicest SUV I ever drove and a great price loaded. But not really looking for an SUV.
5) Hyundai Genesis sedan (V8) before the coupe bug bit. VERY impressive and beat Infiniti by 10K.
6) Jaguar and Porsche were out of my league.
7) Every equivalent BMW model was $12K!!! more than Infiniti, at list. Not a fan of the local dealership.

Once the salesman offered me a decent discount on the floor model 'vert I was in.

after someone hit my old '03 tl i was in the need for a new ride. A few things I was looking for were:
1.) safety
2.) coupe
3.) quicker 0-60 / 1/4 mile times
4.) FWD or AWD, but not RWD
5.) automatic (don't flame, parents decision since they take it out for a drive sometimes)
6.) under 40k

nothing really fit these specs as well as the g37x coupe did. the higher trim altima was also up for consideration, but the g was definitely a nicer car. coming from my tl which had 225hp and an intake to the g which has ~330hp was a huge step up.
Idk what i wouldve done if the acura rsx was still in production though :/ this is my/my family's first nissan, and we do enjoy it. we've always driven acura's ever since my dad got his legend in '90.. but its nice to have a new member to the family

My first car was a Nissan Altima, and I loved it. So I knew when I was buying my first car myself, that I wanted to stay in the Nissan/Infiniti family. I lusted after the 350Z when it came out, but as I learned more about the Infiniti G line, I knew the G coupe was for me. It had more leg room and was more comfortable for me, being 6'2. It had the right combination of looks and power.

Japan is a a unique market when it comes to these kind of cars.
Streets are narrow and road tax depends on size of engine and weight.
Before getting my G, I owned a twin turbo Subaru Legacy for 8 years and it was a brilliant car, but I wanted something else: A coupe with a big engine.
The only Japanese options were the Skyline (the G37) and Lexus SC430. Skyline is a lot better in every aspect: handling, styling (by far), cost of ownership, and just over all appeal to me. even though I wanted a V8, which the SC proudly sports, the VHR37 is just so much better engine.
As for other choices from the west, something was missing or steering wheel was on the wrong side, or they were just too big (Japanese streets are narrow and big coupes like 6 series wouldn't even fit in my parking) and 335i is over my price range. So there goes: the only car that suits me is the G.
That being said, if I was in the US, it would probably be one of the recent muscle cars and if I was targeting a sedan, i would probably get 2009 Subaru Legacy (just before they re-designed it)

I came out of a 2007 G35x sedan. Didn't need the 4-door utility anymore, but still wanted the hp & AWD, so I went with a 2010 G37x coupe.
