Where did you see that? The only thing I've seen on the Nissan press release is that there will be a "sport appearance package" featuring "exterior enhancements".

Basically a "M" or "AMG" type performance model is going to be made, quoted from Car and Driver.

I don't think it will be a performance model, but more like performance parts that you can buy from your local dealership. I doubt they will come out with an actual high performance model though...

Maybe a G with every IPL part on it will be showed (supercharger/exhaust/intake/aerokit/etc) but those parts should be able to be put on every stock G unlike the jump from a 335i to a M3. Actually a factory supercharger/intake/exhaust etc probably would be able to compete with the AMG / M if making around 400-450hp, also cost would be about the same fully loaded maybe 58-65k. Loaded stock G 45k prem/nav/sport then extra 10-20k for every available IPL part (while amg/m fully loaded costs around 72-75k). Would be a nice competitor and you could add parts incrementally instead of having to spring for a performance model all at once.

I'd like to see that quote. So far all they've said is that there will be IPL parts available for each model. It'll be like TRD from Toyota where you can buy individual upgrades or they'll sell a "special edition" car with all the IPL parts installed at the factory.

Creating a M/AMG type line requires A LOT of money that Infiniti doesn't have. Look at what happened with Lexus and their "F Series". You can still find 2009 IS-F cars on dealer lots. Lexus has a lot more money than Infiniti and they still couldn't pull it off successfully.

Besides the IPL trademark specifically mentions individual components (intake, suspension, exhaust, etc). Whereas the trademarks for M, AMG, and F describe producing an entire vehicle under that name.

It's been said over and over, no turbo in the G25. It'll be 232 HP and 190 ft-lbs. of torque

Checked my new car and driver that came in the mail the other day. It's the new car issue. Under 2011 g37 it says a new performance model will be offered. Think bmw "m" or Mercedes amg performance. I looked for the quote on the website but it is not available yet.

Car and Drive does indeed state that an M/AMG style performance upgrade will become available.

Even better, Motor Trend verified that Nissan has signed a deal with Mercedes to provide engines going forward, since they are realizing the limits of the VQ. This opens the possibilities up to endless!
