Gas tank
I am not sure if this is normal but I have never seen this in a car...
Isn't it suppose to have a flap or something in there so nothing can get in? My old Maxima did, and so does my rents Toyotas...

Looks normal to me. That is what the gas cap is for... once you are done pumping, put the gas cap on.
