Got my new G37 Coupe yesterday! Problems already?

I just joined this forum and thank you in advance for any advice given.

Yesterday i got my black on black 2010 g37 coupe, auto trans. with journey package.

I noticed two things while driving today.

1. The shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd in auto regular mode are a bit jerky. is this normal?

2. When coming to a complete stop, the car seems to shake a little, almost like its going into first gear but is having a bit of trouble. Anyone know about this issue?

thanks again

Welcome.

I know that my AT smoothed out a lot over the first few thousand miles.

Whether you have an actual problem or not, I don't know.

^^^What hispeed said...sure doesn't sound right though. Black Betty's grounding wires should help but I would def take it back to the dealer and ask what's up.

I haven't experienced any of your problems during the 2,000 miles I have put on my 2010 sedan.
It is a bit over 100 mile round trip, if I have to go back to the dealer. So if I had your problem, I would do a momentary disconnect of the car's battery. Hopefully that will reset the electronics and everything will run fine. If that didn't work, I would waste no time getting back to the dealer, so they could check it out.
If they say it's normal, demand to test drive another car set up like yours to see if it does the same thing.
Good luck

I have a friend who installed the grounding wires due to similar complaints and the car is very smooth through the entire range now. The transmission also shifts so much more quickly from gear to gear when you "stand on the pedal", the difference there was like night and day!

Be aware with regards to a grounding kit: https://www.myg37.com/forums/2917296-post5.html. I'd just finish break in first and then see how it runs.

Also; be aware that the coupe and sedan have different transmissions...coupe=7 speed, sedan= 6 speed.
The six shifts good.
The 7 sux.
The 7 speed in my 09 G37X is so bad, I'm thinking of getting rid of the car.
I brought it to the dealer expecting that the TSB for the transmission would apply,
but my VIN # was not covered by the TSB.
The sedan loaner shifted so nice I could'nt believe the difference.
I want the car to shift smooth -like a luxury car (think Toyota Solara SLE V6, or Buick) when I'm in town taking it easy.

Grounding wires will not do a thing...all placebo.

If you're talking about slowing down and the car dropping below idle, I have the same issue. They reset the program at my first service and it fixed it for a day, but it's back. It's like the car stays in 2 or 3rd too long and almost drops below 500rpm (Making a droning noise and I can see a little shake). The problem is not there in manual mode so Im guessing it's a software issue.

Perhaps when in good condition, but over time wires oxidize and it doesn't take a great increase in resistance to have a unwelcomed effect. The more material you have to provide a good conduit the better. Considering the cost and reliance on electronics in today's cars, it's worth it for the peace of mind that your electronics are always operating at peak efficiency. The grounding kits for the G just need to be redesigned to not bypass the BCS which unfortunately if I remember correctly didn't look to have an easy solution as it was designed for small wires so I left that stock.
