I'm pretty sure that it [Platinum] doesn't have ester additives, and if so, not a significant amount. Strong ester content would command higher prices (e.g. Motul, Redline, Pennzoil Ultra) as esters take significant marginal time and $$ to manufacture into oil.

For what its worth, Beshoff uses Nissan Ester as part of all scheduled services. Infiniti also pays to include this oil in their PrePaid Maintenance Packages. When we surveyed the local dealers, most were not including Nissan Ester unless requested.

I always find it funny when I hear "We recommend you to blah blah...." from a service rep.
Most service advisors are salary + commission. However, the truely successful ones don't recommend 'extra' servicing, but rather go by the service schedule provided by Infiniti, and give their clients a clear understanding of the state of wear and tear items on the car, so that there are no surprises.

This creates repeat clientele, who know that they're not being ripped off.

Look at Riverside Infiniti for example. People drive from all over so-cal to service their car there because the advisors only do the service you ask, and make recommendations based on what you actually need. It helps that the advisors there are actually smart and LOOK for warranty work and focus on volume of warranty work, as opposed to the typical service advisor who is looking to make a quick bucks.

Mike, I agree, but your idea of a successful service manager and my idea of a
successful service manager is different than that service manager who will
advise customers to use their bulk oil change because it puts more money in
his pocket and his bosses pocket.

Thanks for letting people know where one of the "good" dealerships is.
