Please help. Need tint advice. Thanks!
Hey Everyone! I am kind of new to this forum. I just bought my 2009 G37x coupe about a month ago and I was thinking about getting tints. My friend gave me contact information for a guy that he knows that used to work for LA Tint and charges $99 + tax with lifetime guarantee. He says he uses a brand called Global which he prefers over all the other tints that hes worked with in the past 15 years. Do you think that is a good price or is it worth paying a little more money to go somewhere reputable in case he decides to one day move or shut down his shop? I've read in other threads that people prefer Huper Optiks and Formula One. Does anyone know how Global compares to these? Also since the legal limit is 50 front and 35 rear, i was debating between all around 50 or 35. I'd prefer to have one shade all around. Any opinions? I am in Northern VA area. Can anyone recommend other places as well? Thanks so much!
I have 35% all around right now, but i'm about to go to 20%. I know Eclipse tinting in Norfolk does great work, i'm not sure how far that is to you. I'd definitely go "illegal" with the tint. The looks are so much better and police won't say anything unless u have 5%
whenever you get a tint make sure its lumar tint. its comes with a guarantee that if it bubbles or is peeling or ANYTHING like that it can be replaced anywhere in the US that uses lumar.
$99 is cheap as f#ck. If you want all 5 windows done its about 200 anywhere in the northern states, and I would even consider that a good price for a professional job.
Also, recommending a percent...always get ONE SHADE DARKER then you are hesitating towards. (if you're deciding between 20 and 25...GET 20! ...if 35 and 50..get 35!) Otherwise you'll constainly regret not going darker and think about it every time you get in your car. ...trying to "visualize" what it'd look like if you had darker tints.

best thing to do is to check some of their work to see what kind of quality job the installer can do. but yea 99 is freakn cheap. also depends what kind of tint it is, dye, ceramic, etc..
recently got llumar and its starting to come out very nicely. got 28% which comes out to about 25% when its put on the window. to be honest, i probably could have gone 20% and been maybe 5% happier =).

If you were to do 50% you might as well not even tint the car. 35 will look better. I live in Richmond though and I know the cops do try to write tickets for anything they can. I got pulled over the other day in my friends R32 for having a "radar detector and illegal exhaust"
We didn't have a radar detector, and the exhaust was OEM. After being a d!ck to us for 15 minutes the cop gave us a 'warning' because he couldn't actually write a ticket. I don't know how it is in NoVa but I'm probably not going to get my car tinted because of the douchey cops in Richmond.
99 Dollars is verrrry cheap. I got a quote for 180 but didn't end up getting the tint. Never heard of Global tint but make sure to see some of the cars done from that shop to get an idea of what their work looks like.
