I can agree with this 100%. Unless you're going to track your car or drive in a ***** out fashion all the time the A5 with the 2.0T is a better buy. With a simple chip program the output can be increased to 255hp 286tq. It's a more luxrious ride -nicer materials, true dual zone climate controls with a third zone, bigger trunk and its quite the looker. And all this for the same price for the G. As a bonus 4 wheel drive is standard. Overall there's better user technology available in th A5 as well making the price increase in the G dangerous.

I stayed away from the 2.0T Audi's because for that money a 2.0T is a very lame motor. The 2.0T is great in say a $24K GTI where it helps build performance for a reasonable price but when you're talking $40K+ you want a high displacement V6 or a V8...or at the very least not the same motor that's in a series of $20K cars (the VW's).

I had a 1.8T A4 for a few years and didn't really like the motor. Boosting it would only make it more peaky and less of an all around performer like the G37.

As you can tell I'm not a big fan of turbos. I think they are a cheap way to build power and are never, in a performance car, a good replacement for displacement...unless you are trying to build big power like a GT-R or Porsche 911T, etc. and need to keep the motor weight down.

The A5 2.0t equipped like the G37S is still going to be more expensive and will still be slower even with a chip. I believe its also heavier. Don't get me wrong, I'd take an S5 over my G37 any day but you are not going to find one anywhere near the $44k or so that will get you a fairly loaded G37S....

Ever heard of BMW 335? Evo's? There are great little engines with turbo's. Also the peak tq of 258 on the A5 is available from 1500 - 4500. This makes for a great daily drivers compared to the comparativaly peaky (I mean higher up on the rev counter) nature of our NA engines.
When driving along in 6th the A5 pulls pretty smoothly as the engine is already in the meaty part of the curve. Overall the driving experience is much more refined than our G's, I wouldn't say better but its certainly different.
I will say though that the 2.0 sounds like crap compared to our engines.

Also I can't say out right that the A5 prices are higher but a friend of mine just paid 45 otd for an A5 and it was pretty well equiped. The two missing packages that I have that he didn't were the equivalent audi sport package and the tech package.

Of course I've heard of them. 1) The 335i is a 3.0 liter...hardly "little" and can't be compared to a 2.0T being discussed. 2)The EVO is exactly what I mean..cheap power. Same with the STi.

That answers my earlier question, and makes the prices make more sense too.
