I haven't clicked the one for the options yet, but what I find interesting is that the prices for everything but the sport either only went up a few hundred dollars, or in the case of the base G37 Sedan, didn't go up at all. But the Sport 6MT's price did go up a lot it looks like, especially for the coupe.
Does the 2010 Sport gain a lot of options then? In 2009 it's slightly cheaper then the AWD models.

WOW! At these prices. Other competitors become more suitable. Like audi A5/S5 or even porsche cayman if you don't need back seats. The G is one of my fave all time cars. But I only got one because of the $6k cash back year end winter event. I always felt the G's retail price is overblown for what it is. Though I don't take away that it is a great GT car. But when you begin commanding $50k+ with options. You better have one tight azz package. On that note. Audi would win my dollars in 2010 if I were in the market.
^^^Even at the new inflated prices your S5 comparison is a little weird. A loaded S5 is well into the $60k range. The A5 loaded is well into the $50k's and its only available now with the 2.0 engine (I believe) with just 200hp.
The price increase is a little unsettling but the G is still an unquestioned value in this segment...

I wanted an S5 but in the end the value just wasn't there. I bought a fairly loaded g37 coupe journey. Does not have awd or the technology package (? 4 wheel steer and moving headlights?), but I could have written a check for 38k plus tax in July of 09. Audi dealers wanted 60k for an s5. Even a used one from CarMax was in the high 50's. I don't think it was worth 50% more, plus the center stack has a poor design and some other issues.
I see your point to a point. Looking at a plain jane g37 or g37 journey. The value is still there. But the over inflated sport package is ridiculous. There better be some new serious tuning to that sport package.
We better see 105ft braking from 60ft and a minimum of .96g on the skidpad. It better show in numbers.
An audi tts, is putting out .95g on the skidpad.
The 40k sport pkg drom 37k better show something significant. Its like they are charging on the G what they didn't raise on the Z. The Z went up 60 bucks and the nav went up 300. So $360 was the jump on the Z. The G jumped 3k. I gotta see a breakdown of cost to justify this as still being a bargain.
200hp on a a5? I think its more like 265hp. Or somethin. but its performance times fair well. The s5 fairs around 55k nicely equipped. Getting an audi @ 60+k will have features you wouldn't even dream of having on the G. So where I look at it is from its 55k range. This might be subjective but I think the S5 is one of the most beautiful GT's on the market.
As I feel the same about a G37. But a spade is a spade. The audi is a higher level car and the 2 cars are getting too close in price. I don't even throw BMW in this cuz they are a rip off and there prices are borderline dillusional. At 7k over the 09 G, the 335I is just not worth it.
Now infiniti price point is getting close to that same status unless... they produce by making a tighter sport pkg for the money.

Unless you're really going to track your car I fail to see how marginal differences in performance test specs will matter.
The 2010 A5 primarily utilizes the 2.0T I4 engine, with the exception of the 3.2 V6 that is still available with automatic only (but will be phased out in the next model year I think, as the A4 has had done to it). A nicely equipped S5 is easily in the $65k range... $55k might get you a base Premium Plus model with Navi if you're lucky.
And finally, I think what people fail to realize is that the price they list for the G37S includes both the Premium and Sport packages. Basically, no more Sport models that do not have the Premium package installed. That's what is accounting for the increase in price. Even the post on Autoblog failed to acknowledge this.
