Fixing the dashboard squeak/rattle.

After reading through some posts I see that the squeaking/rattling coming from the dash on my G37coupe is a common occurrence. Has anyone fixed this themselves? I would rather fix it myself if its relatively easy. I havent had the greatest experience with mechanics and therefore do all of my own work on my cars/toys. I find that when they fix something they do it half assed or break something else in the process.
So, is this an easy fix or should I suck it up and have the dealer fix it as its under warranty?
Thanks!

Bought the car from competition infiniti in smithtown NY. They've been great but all I have them do is oil changes. I've had bad luck with mechanics in the past and always do the work myself as long as I'm able to. Even though it's covered under warranty. But I'm not sure what the F is rattling/squeaking back there and since this is a pretty common problem I was hoping someone has fixed this themselves.

I too have a rattle that seems to be coming from my gauge cluster or from the shroud around it. Any ideas?

well, I narrowed my noise down to the buttons on the right side of the cluster shroud...the top of the button assembly is touching the shroud and making a grinding\squeaky noise when I hit bumps.

Now to find a way to stop it...not sure what to try to fix it permanently, but I'm gonna wedge a small shard of an old credit card between the top button assembly and the shroud for now. That seems to stop the noise at least, and I can't see the shard. Who knows, that might end up being the permanent fix. In my experience, the more something is taken apart, the bigger the chance of something else breaking or making noise

I too have the noise. It is muffled usually by music and very exaggerated if your going slower in a higher gear. I narrowed mine down the the little compartment where you put out your cigarretes ( the little flap infront of the shifter). Usually when its rattlign and I put my hand over it, it stops.

My squeaks are not coming from the gear box. I can hear it even going over the slightest bumps.

More so, I've noticed my steering wheel is off center when I'm driving perfectly straight...****'s not cool!!!

The noise in the gauge cluster shroud has been fixed. The dealer placed small felt strips above the gauge button housing to stop the squeak. Can't even tell they're there.
