whys my new 6mt g37 accel slow?

Greetings, i'm the proud new owner of a 09 G37 6MT pearl white coupe

First i must say i am in love with my car! ive owned it for 3 months now and i get compliments on it daily!

my concern is this,
im at 6000km currently and i find that when i accel either from start or down shifting my car seems to lag quite abit most of the time.
Other times ill down shift from 3rd to 2nd or 4th to 3rd and the cars pick up is great. Most of the time under WOT it seems to be quite slow infact i challenged my old 01 Audi A4 which was stock and the A4 pulled from me after 2nd gear.

Ive owned an 05 G35 for a few months and believe me i know that it was faster than my G37, i cant even manage to chrip my tires as i was able to on the G35 as easily, and yes i did disengage my TDC. I've owned my share of fast cars in my past and i find that my new G's accel does seem to be a concern to me.

Does anyone have any feed back they can provide me?

Thank you

congrats on the car

I would get into detail but I rather make it short and simple. Our car came with Vvel instead of vtec. Infiniti = Failzors.

haha nah, Our car is heavy and has low tq so it is slow from a sudden stop. Our car are fast if your already rolling though

To get into detail,

when i accelerate from start even while reving the engine the accel under wot is quite slow, when acceling from stop position just to get moving with no spirited driving its faster one take off and next light its slower, never consistent even under the same conditions with TDC off, the car lacks what ill term "jam".

When i downshift on the highway to pass cars i feel it surely dosnt have the "jam" most 6 cylinder stock cars have.

The car does run smooth aside from my accel issue i may have.

hmmmmm i hope i dont have a problem.

This car has some serious throttle lag.chamellion and I were saying they must have built it so little old ladies can drive these cars.get a cobb, get a cat back some hfc's and stillen gen3.add a professional tune, you would not believe it is same car.throttle response 1000x better.no lag car tales off like ridiculous.do the above and I can say you will not have this problem.

I've experienced the same thing at times... but what i dont understand is if our cars are heavy, slow from a stop, and low torque, (and w/e else) how does it have a 5.2sec. 0-60 speed?

-also have a 6MT

You feel "jerk" which is change in acceleration, which is change in velocity.

This car's acceleration is very smooth, so it FEELS slower. When I first drove the 2nd gen sedan, I basically said 'um... no. This isn't faster than my G35 coupe'. Then I had a bad experience

I got my 6MT Sport back in January. I have about 16K miles on it now. I was a little disappointed in the low end speed of the car (I came from a 05 Mustang GT). I swear at about 12K miles, the car seemed to wake up? I really noticed chirping the tires was pretty easy to do as compared to before. The summer tires only have like 10K miles on them. Who knows, it could all be in my head, I am a little more pleased with it though. that's all that matters.

Give it time, or MOD it up if you cant wait.

I noticed the same thing. I had a 2008 5AT G37 and it definitely felt faster than my 6MT. When on the highway, I would push the peddle to the floor and the car felt like it flew. With the 6MT, even downshifting to the lowest possible gear for the speed I am travelling at, the car doesn't "feel" like it pulls as hard.

I also find that the car doesn't seem to have ideal gear ratios from 2nd to 3rd. The car pulls hard in 2nd but after shifting into 3rd there is a noticeable decrease in pull. Almost like the RPMs drop too much going into 3rd even if you are at redline in 2nd.

Don't get me wrong... the car is fast but I do feel like the 5AT pulled better. I can't tell if I am just use to the extra power after coming from a slower car or not. When I came from my 328i, I always thought my 5AT G37 was crazy fast... my 6MT G37 seems way more tame.

Not saying the car doesn't pull... it does... just that by butt dyno tells me my 2008 5AT pulled harder. Maybe Infiniti changed something in the '09 ECUs or maybe its the gearing of the 6MT vs 5AT or maybe it's all in my head
