I went with 18" Blizzak's last winter and drove all winter except the major dumps. I must confess the G isn't that good in winter. Had to periodically turn the VDC off to make it up my driveway by allowing the wheels to spin. I switched to my older Maxima during the major dumps as it was FWD and I didn't care if somebody else hit me.

If I had more money and the X version came out sooner (I bought used) I would have preferred the AWD. Either way, most major snow dumps are cleaned to a passable state within 24 hours so there was little downtime.

Have a G37S (6MT). Bought rims from Tire Rack (18" Sport Editions) along with 235/50/18 Nokian WR G2 tires ("all-season" tires with the snowflake). Drove about 10k km on the tires (a lot of 401 driving) and that was fine.

There was a couple of big snowstorms in GTA around Christmas time (2008) that made it tricky to drive. I did get kinda stuck at a friend's condo parking lot in 'ssauga (took me about 5 minutes of rocking back & forth to free myself (I kept the traction control on ... duh!) but they served my purpose.

Only thing ... even though it's a 300 treadwear rated tire ... I have about 6/32" on a pair of tires and about 9/32" on the other pair. I must have spun the tires quite a bit!!! Will definitely rotate them for next year. I was hoping to get about 3-4 seasons out of them ... but that might not be the case. I'm hoping for a mild upcoming winter!!!
