I agree that the G is not a race car. However, it's definitely not slow, either. I have read articles re: G coupe in several online and print auto mags over the years, the most recent being the comparo between a G coupe (journey + sport) and the Genesis coupe (track trim). The numbers from the drivers that I see consistently for the G coupe (and I'm talking the auto/journey) are low 5's to 60 mph and upper 13's in the quarter mile.

Yes, this is not a 'Vette, but it's not designed to be. We have back seats, a longer wheelbase, and more creature comforts than "most" cars that are faster. However, with these times, "slow" is not the word that most would use to describe it, especially in light of the fact that it has a NA engine, which, I hope, is less "high maintenance" than many of the FI engines that I read about.

It may be the recent R&T review where one of the reviewers said that it's the best (or one of the best) combos of luxury + sport for the money. I would have to agree with that. (Not sure if that's the right source for that paraphrase or not, but I did read that. LOL) Another source (I think C&D) noted that any car that's considered "fast" these days should trap over 100 mph in the quarter. That's another comment from an enthusiast source supporting that idea that the G is not "slow."

My .02 on it.

The only volvo that it could have been was a S60R - i had two - and 05 and -06. It had 300hp AWD with three throttle and suspension settings. If that was an R and it had the BSR PPC tune...it could have taken us. That tune would take the 300 to 350hp, with the 350 torque AND AWD.

I have an 08 G35S Sedan and am trading for the coupe...in case anyone is wondering why i'm on here.

Start modding your car! Problem is price and once you start you can't stop. Once I started I did everything within a month. Lol but night and day difference on sound, feel, quickness, acceleration especially on the top end.. And soo fun. Sure you could buy a faster car stock that's lighter, but you have an interior and luxary to go with your car.. I keep falling more and more in love with my car, and I went from a bmw 330i and love my infiniti wayyy more.

I haven't really used manual shift because of what people have been saying on here. I guess I should start mastering it. I need to find the shift points on the slushbox. I noticed that it takes longer to shift in the earlier gears and quicker in the later 2. Just got my bb grounding kit that I'll be putting in today after getting it tinted. Really wish my bat overlay's came in today so I could get it put on while I'm tinting it but I don't really feel like waiting. It's getting hot in Kansas

Hopefully all this talk of racing is at the track(?)

If you've only had it two weeks then the car hasn't really been broken in for performance. These cars get a little quicker with miles.

I'm not sure what type of Volvo it was - I have an automatic and I was stomping on it getting on the highway - the Volvo was in front of me, and staying in front as we started getting close to traffic. We were not racing, I was just commenting that I was surprised that I was having trouble catching up to the Volvo. If I kept the foot planted and there was no traffic, perhaps I would have gone by.

My old stage II STi pulled like a freight train.

There is an s60 in my family and I have driven it many times. I know what the car is capable of. A specially tuned R maybe a different story.
