Dealership cars washes are useless
infiniti of annapolis hand washes all their serviced cars and chamois them dry, including wheels. they've never put a single scratch or swirl on either one of the infinitis i've owned.
i was hesitant to have a dealership wash my car, but after the first two or three time when the car was washed as well as i would have done it myself, i have no problem with them. its too bad that this isn't the case for the rest of you guys.

I like how ppl complain about this about that. They complain about dealers only worry about making money but dont realize that the dealer has so freekin many expenses to keep the place running and the funny thing is usually ppl that complain the most are the ones that buy their cars at or near invoice and always blabbing how much service the dealer should provide when they only go in to service their car when the service is free. I dont work for the dealer but You got to realize how much the dealer is paying the lot boy to wash your car, the water, soap, cloth to dry your car the utility bills, insurance if god forbid the kid gets hurt washing your car. Yeah, some dealers make money off of the car they sell and service, But Im pretty sure thats not the case with most of us in this forum including myself. You know it, I know it, most of us would probably never bring our cars back to the dealer unless we had a free oil change or its covered under warranty. The most if any of us is pay $50-100 for a oil change. Just my 2cents
remember Customers = Cash and without Customers you won't make any profit.
If you were going to pay a little cash to the people who washes your car, its called bring it to the car wash, not to the dealer. The lot boy just didnt care about your car mainly cause they probably figured out, "oh, its just another cheap azz that came into our dealer for a free car wash, driving a $40k car, too darn cheap to go to a car wash" Not trying to be an azz, but if you want your car washed, bring it to a car wash, not the dealer. Its like going to Cheesecake Factory or Outback and eating their complimentary loave of bread and then complain about how horrible their free bread is, No luncheon meat, no vegetable, no bacon, just the plain jane butter nothing like a real sandwich or hoagie.

Also, would you go to a place where they have s*itty service or good service. I'm sure you would go to a place where they have a good service thats what brings in revenue.
As a owner of a business I know how it is to make a first impression on a customer if the first impresson is good then there is more than a 60% chance they will come back.
I only let the dealership vacuum my car out unless it is extremely dirty. Even then, I dont allow them to put that tire stuff on the tires because it slings all over my paint. Learned that the hard way.
Funny how the dealership puts tire gloss on your wheels yet the manual says that you shouldnt.

But why does it matter if it free or not. Like I said before will you go to a dealership where they treat your car like trash or you will go to the dealership that will treat your car like it's theirs no matter if it is free or not. For me as a customer I like to be pleased weither it is free or not because that shows me they have respect for my property and that they didn't care all about the money and stuff.

Im not taking sides or anything like that, not trying to be an azz either, just trying to be a fair guy, theres gonna be that someone thats gonna nit pick anything and everything. Tire shine, for example, yeah, it looks nice and everything but like alot of ppl say, that stuff spins and splats around onto the paint. I dont like it that much either, but at the sametime I like the way it looks on the tires, theirs pros and cons for everything, but If you ask me, heres how I really see it. The car wash is for Infiniti customers, ppl that just got an oil change, or a new air filter, or maybe even warranty work. Its not for someone like you where you just felt like going in to get your car washed cause its dirty. It can be a million of reason why your car was half azz washed. It might even be as simple as the service writer telling the lot guy, Hey, give this car a quick wash, this dude is not buying anything, he just wants his car cleaned. You never know, I might sound like mean, but you know what im saying is true, they are not going to spend the next 45mins cleaning and vacuming and waxing your car.
bun,
I've got to disagree wth your whole line of reasoning here. If you agree to provide a service, then do it at 100% quality or don't offer it. The dealerships shouldn't provide free washes if 1) they don't want to do it because it doesn't make them any profit, or 2) they are going to do a half-assed job and screw up people's paint jobs. The point you made about the dealership's cost and profitablility is garbage. Consumers dont give a crap about a business's bills they have to pay or whether they make a good profit on a good or service. All customers want is a good value for their money and excellent service. I speak from experience as a multiple business owner. I offer certain ammenities in my gym that I own and if I offer them then they are expected for what the member pays. As an example I have showers at he gym. I don't have to but I do and highlight that as an ammenity that you get for your monthly membership dues. I am expected to provide it in a clean manner at all times, to have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash becasue I said I would. If i buy some cheap crap to put in the dispensers, I have members bitching about it. They should. If I run out of paper towels, people bitch. If I put in the cheap paper towels that are stiff and scratchy, they bitch. They should. My members don't care how much my cleaning service costs, how much more the good towels and soap cost than the cheap crap or anything else abut how much it costs me. That's not their problem. It's mine and if I can't do it and somehow make a profit, then shame on me for being a poor business person. If I shipped you grounding kit and didn't professionally crimp the terminals on and they fell off, you'd be pissed and say it was half assed. Professional crimpers are expensive, but that's not your problem, is it? All you want is what you are promised no matter what it costs me, right? They as paying comnsumers have a reasonable right to expect reasonable quality, not a wash that does more damage to their cars than it does good. Maybe Kenny's dealership does a grreat job, people certainly say so. He's definitely ahead of the Infiniti curve because the majority of the dealerships provide very poor service in this area. I love my dealership but told my service advisor that if they ever "wash" my car again somebody is going to bleed. He puts on my service ticket "DO NOT WASH Mr. Harris' car unelss you are prepared to fight. He's large."

people will nitpick especially if they don't pick up the car and a bird poops on it by accident. everyone will have a different opinion on experiences but same goes with going out to eat somewhere. i don't care whether I eat $100 porterhouse or the local bar has a good 20oz porterhouse for $15 bucks and $5 for a pitcher of beer. As long as I'm happy thats all that matter s

Heres what I gotta say, on your grounding kit, yes, I would bitch if the terminals fell off mainly cause its an item that Im paying for. I have every right to bitch. but thats not the case here, Like I said, car washes are provided mainly for paying customers, ppl that just got an oil change, etc.... again, thats not the case here either, read the original posting, Dude just drops in the dealer cause his cars dirty. I dont think you would be too happy either if everyone in your gym just goes to the gym just to take a shower and complain that your shower heads are not the massaging type, or your not using Matrix shampoo, or how come there isnt a jacuzzi in the shower room, what happened to the plasma tv while I soak in the Jacuzzi, Im a paying customer in this gym, terrible service. I wouldnt bitch if you sent me a free grounding kit and the terminals fell out. I would be an arzz if i did wouldnt I? thats exactly what our mans doing here. I do expect certain level of service quality myself but at the sametime, I ask myself, am I paying? or how much am I paying. I dont go to Friendlys to complain about their 4 oz steak or compare it to Outbacks prime rib. I clearly stated, you want a perfect car wash, thats what the $149.95 Detail is for. If they mess up on that, then you go ranting cause you are paying and its a good decent amount. Again, my 2 cents lol

I have 3 big screen HDTV's on the walls and a 17" personal HD LCD mounted on every piece of cardio equipment with full satellite channel lineup and Sirius radio. Yet I have people bitch becaue I dont have premium channels like HBO, I don't buy NFL Sunday ticket, and I charge $2 for earbuds if they've forgotten theirs!
No matter what level of service is provided, I can guarantee somebody will be dissatisfied. I think where wwe differ in our opinions is that you feel the free car was without purchasing any service is an "extra" and I feel it is a reasonable expectation when dealing with a luxury brand dealership. Some dealerships around this area use free car washes for life in advertising as an enticement to come in and buy. They do it for free to get you into the dealership and see the new models and want one or to be impressed with the cleanliness and efficiency of the service department or buy some ot the Stillen performance parts hanging on the wall in the parts department. I believe that whether you are buying anything else or not, it should be of decent quality and not F-up yor paint worse. I don't expect it to be a $150 detail, just a decent wash that doesn't scratch and swirl your paint where people use the right products and techniques. Or they could hire or contract to a real detailer on staff and make it a profit center by offering real detailing service through the dealership, but don't ever half *** it and harm my paint. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
