NJ again? I remembered a guy posted up a couple weeks ago of some thieves breaking into his G37 and some other infiniti's at his work in NJ. I would go to an alarm shop to see what they can do. They have some bypass modules we havn't heard of and they also have other stuff that can prevent theft. Like there's a shop near me that can install stobes around my car so when the sensor goes off when someone's braking in the strobes comes on and attracts attention.

 

Just got off the phone with Infiniti corporate. The person I spoke to said they only heard of this once before. I find that hard to believe. I offered her the contact info for the police dept so they can get a grasp of how bad the situation really is.. she said no and that there is nothing she can do.

I asked to be transferred to someone that I can report this to and she said no one.... She ended the call by saying, "I can give you the number for the Better Business Bureau."

I remember not too long ago thieves were breaking into BMW's the same way. I don't think BMW corporate did anything about it either.

 

Lower those comp deductibles people, and pulll your personal belongings for now. While crappy to think about it happening I would be out $25 bucks for that sort of damage, except for the iPod and misc. stuff.

 

Has anyone seen an aftermarket impact sensor that ties in the same way?
I read about Code-Alarm's IT-s, but can't find any info on their site, just press releases.
The Infiniti sensor looks to be about $130.

I have the Viper system with that digital key chain, shows which part of the car has been hit.

 

You received basic industry norm security features as standard features on your car. The standard Infiniti security system is no different than the security system used by Infiniti's competitors.

If you want more, then buy it. If you want Infiniti to give you more than the industry norm, then be prepared to pay more for it.

One question, would the people who think this is Infiniti's problem or who want Infiniti to have given them more security been upset if the price of their car increased by $800 - $1200 for this additional security?

P.S. Does this fall under the umbrella of people wanting others to do for them (for free) that which they could have done themselves? If someone lives in a part of the country where vehicle break-ins are more common, or who parks outdoors overnight, or who parks in big unsecured parking lots, possibly working after dark, wouldn't it be wise for that person to take his or her new car to a vehicle security business to make sure the vehicle had the security system which the owner needed?

 

Incorrect. I had a 1997 Audi A4 in which the standard alarm was much better than than the standard alarm in my 2008 G37. I remember arming the alarm in the Audi with the windows open and I reached in to get something. Guess what? The alarm went off because it detected motion in the car. Try that in the Infiniti. It's the same alarm as found Nissan line up which sucks too.

 

If Infiniti is aware of a known security flaw in their vehicle, it is in their interest to fix it. It could discourage people from buying their cars. Also, having a vulnerability in their door locks isn't something that they can remedy by offering some optional impact sensor. That doesn't fix the problem, it's just a band-aid. If this is an actual security problem, Infiniti should address it when producing new vehicles and issue a recall for those already produced. It's the same thing as when Microsoft alerts you when they have a new security update to install.

 

Doesnt KP make a shock sensor for our cars?

 

And how the hell would an impact sensor help in this case? The issue is that punching a hole in the door makes the windows roll down. Adding an impact sensor will not help.

 

Let's be accurate here. The motion sensor was an extra cost option on the 1997 Audi A4. The standard security system was an anti-theft system, just like Infiniti's.

Also, for what it is worth, Audis cost more than Infinitis. If you want what Audi gives you, pay more and buy an Audi.
